Actor Michael McKean Mocks ‘Belief In Rapture’ And Conservatives Go Nuts April 9, 2020

Actor Michael McKean generates controversy after declaring that “Belief in the Rapture should disqualify anyone from holding public office.”

McKean, an actor known for his various roles in film and television such as Lenny Kosnowski in Laverne & Shirley, David St. Hubbins in This is Spinal Tap, and Chuck McGill on Better Call Saul, made his remark concerning the rapture via Twitter:

Belief in the Rapture should disqualify anyone from holding public office.

While many appreciated the humor and wisdom behind McKean’s remarks, some conservatives were not so happy. Indeed, the conservative website Twitchy reacted with horror at the remark, at one point asking:

Would you care to show us on the doll where the Christian politician hurt you with his or her Christian beliefs, Michael?

However, most of the reactions to McKean’s wise remarks were favorable. For example:

This is not the first time McKean has challenged and mocked politicians who believe in the rapture. Previously the actor challenged Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who once declared:

We will continue to fight these battles, it is a never ending struggle… until the Rapture.

Last January McKean opined:

You wouldn’t accept an air-traffic controller who was a flat-earther, so why accept a US Secretary of State who thinks the Rapture is imminent?

Bottom line: Actor Michael McKean generates controversy after declaring that “Belief in the Rapture should disqualify anyone from holding public office.”
