Death Cult: Louisiana Megachurch Pastor Tony Spell calls on Christians to defy COVID-19 social distancing guidelines and keep going to church even if it kills them.
In a disturbing interview with TMZ, controversial Pastor Tony Spell of Life Tabernacle Church near Baton Rouge said that “true Christians do not mind dying” while encouraging “true Christians” to keep gathering in churches and place their lives, and the lives of all those they come in contact with, at risk.
In the interview Pastor Spell said:
The day that we walk through the valley of the shadow of death we will fear no evil for God is with us. Then he said, ‘fear not because I am with you’
And then the Bible teaches us to be absent from our bodies to be present with the Lord. So like any revolutionary, zealot or pure religious person, death looks to him like a welcome friend.
True Christians do not mind dying. They fear living in fear.
People that prefer tyranny over freedom do not deserve freedom. People have been locked in their homes now for 23 days like prisoners. The only fit they have to their emotion is coming to the house of God and worshiping like free people.
And speaking with CNN, the controversial pastor said:
We don’t get our rights to worship freely from the government, we get those from God. We’d rather obey God than man.
Previously Spell told Reuters that he would ignore the threat from the pandemic because “the church is the last force resisting the Antichrist.” At the time Spell said:
We’re defying the rules because the commandment of God is to spread the Gospel. The church is the last force resisting the Antichrist, let us assemble regardless of what anyone says.
Last week Progressive Secular Humanist reported that after preaching to hundreds Spell taunted authorities, declaring you can’t arrest “us all.” At that time Spell had conducted a controversial church service despite the fact that he had been charged with misdemeanors earlier that day for holding services in violation of Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards’s order banning large gatherings.
Bottom line: In a reckless and irresponsible move, Pastor Tony Spell of Life Tabernacle Church in Central, Louisiana, says “true Christians” will ignore the coronavirus pandemic and will keep coming to church even if it kills them and the ones they love.
