Former Republican presidential candidate and pizza magnate Herman Cain has died from the coronavirus.
Cain, 74, had been hospitalized since early July after he began having trouble breathing.
Cain tested positive for COVID-19 on June 29, and “had developed symptoms serious enough” that he was hospitalized in the Atlanta area on July 1.
Before being hospitalized Cain tweeted a statement celebrating the fact that “masks will not be mandatory” at an upcoming rally to be attended by Trump:
Masks will not be mandatory for the event, which will be attended by President Trump. PEOPLE ARE FED UP!

And another tweet calling the virus a “Democratic hoax” –
The following is a sample of reactions to Cain’s death via Twitter:
Herman Cain’s last public appearance was appearing at Trump’s Tulsa rally without a mask. He posted an anti-mask tweet the day before that has since been deleted. https://t.co/8Z6MisLzAs

Sad to see that Herman Cain passed away, but people will understandably be posting his previous tweets calling for the lockdown to end all day.
It’s never real until it gets real.

Herman Cain was a sexual predator who said Muslims can’t be true Americans. Just cause he is dead doesn’t mean we have to pretend he wasn’t a bigot https://t.co/KVvNJG2kKs

Herman Cain would be alive right now if Trump didn’t hold a rally in the middle of a pandemic.
