Anderson Cooper Calls MyPillow CEO ‘Snake Oil Salesman’ For Pushing Bogus COVID ‘Cure’ August 18, 2020

Boom: CNN’s Anderson Cooper blasts MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell for being “like a snake oil salesman” after the pillow salesman claimed that he had a “cure” for COVID-19.

The Hill reports:

CNN’s Anderson Cooper on Tuesday slammed MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, an ardent President Trump supporter, for pushing an unproven therapeutic treatment for coronavirus, sales of which could benefit him.

The “cure” Lindell is pushing is Oleandrin, a supplement extracted from the toxic plant Nerium Oleander.

After Lindell explained that he had a “miracle cure” for COVID-19, Cooper went off, declaring:

You really are a snake oil salesman. I mean, you could be in the Old West standing on a box telling people to drink your amazing elixir…

Cooper pointed out that Lindell had no medical or scientific qualifications to make such a claim:

Sir, just for our viewers: You have no medical background. You’re not a scientist.

Cooper explained how Lindell would try to market his so-called “cure” to get around regulators:

This will be sold as a dietary supplement—that’s how you’ll skirt this—you won’t be able to actually say, you won’t be able to actually advertise it as for COVID-19, correct? You would just put it on as a dietary supplement and going out and doing a lot of publicity, you would just hope that people would use it off-label, believing it will have COVID benefits and you will profit financially. That seems to be the theory you are operating on.

Cooper also pointed out that Lindell was clearly motivated by greed, and that he had a large financial interest in selling the supplement:

A guy called you in April and said he had this product. You are now on the board and are going to make money from the sale of this product.

The reason he reached out to you is you have the ear of the president …

A disgusted Cooper asked:

How do you sleep at night?

In his defense, a shameless Lindell said:

I do what Jesus has me do.

Cooper asked:

You think Jesus wants you out here promoting remedies that … [have] never been tested?

A stunned and devastated Lindell told Anderson that he would pray for him.

Bottom line: CNN’s Anderson Cooper blasts MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell for being “like a snake oil salesman” after the pillow salesman claimed that he had a “cure” for COVID-19.
