Election Theft: President Donald Trump admits that he is starving the U.S. Postal Service of funding in an attempt to sabotage voting by mail efforts in hopes of stealing the 2020 presidential election.
While President Trump has long railed against mail-in voting, falsely claiming it leads to rampant fraud, he appeared to confirm Thursday morning that he opposes Democrats’ proposed boost in funding to the U.S. Postal Service for the express purpose of making it harder to expand voting by mail.
President Donald Trump proclaimed Wednesday that the U.S. Postal Service doesn’t have the capacity to handle an unprecedented increase in mail-in ballots because it lacks funds that his administration is blocking, remarks that were immediately viewed as an open admission of election sabotage by a president who has previously called USPS “a joke.”
Trump made his admission that he was preventing funds going to the Postal Service to sabotage mail-in-voting during an interview with Maria Bartiromo on Fox Business Network. When asked why the White House and congressional Democrats were unable to reach a compromise on the next stimulus package, Trump said:
They [the Democrats] want three and a half billion dollars for something that’ll turn out to be fraudulent — that’s election money basically.
They want $25 billion for the post office. Now, they need that money in order to have the post office work so it can take all of these millions and millions of ballots. Now, in the meantime, they aren’t getting there. But if they don’t get those two items, that means you can’t have universal mail-in voting because they’re not equipped to have it.
If we don’t make a deal, that means they don’t get the money. That means they can’t have universal mail-in voting. They just can’t have it.

He said the quiet part out loud.
Make no mistake, this is a despicable attempt by Trump to prevent American citizens from voting. Trump believes that if Americans are allowed to vote by mail he and the Republicans will lose. So he is willing to sabotage and even destroy the U.S. Postal Service in order to win reelection.
As one might imagine, Trump was condemned for his blatantly unethical and perhaps illegal attempt to sabotage the Postal Service.
The Washington Post reports:
Trump’s attack on the Postal Service is now a national emergency.
The following is a sample of reactions via social media:
It’s not just Trump that‘s destroying the US Post Office.
It’s the entire Republican Party.
Senate & House GOP could easily override a Trump veto of postal funding and help oversight.
Republicans are working with Trump to destroy the USPS and sabotage the delivery of ballots. https://t.co/5qIMUDxQot

Trump saying clearly on Fox why he won’t fund USPS. “Now they need that money in order to make the post office work so it can take all of these millions and millions of ballots…But if they don’t get those two items that means you can’t have universal mail-in voting…”

If we don’t step up to save @USPS, 600,000 hard working Americans will lose their jobs—and millions of Americans will lose access to a vital lifeline that delivers essential goods like paychecks and medicines. We must do everything in our power to save the post office from Trump.

Trump is deliberately sabotaging the USPS to prevent YOU (and every other American) from safely voting by mail. He thinks that he can make mail delivery so disjointed that the election results will be in doubt. We all need to fight for the Postal Service and our democracy!

Bottom line: President Donald Trump has admitted that he is starving the U.S. Postal Service of funding in an attempt to sabotage voting by mail efforts in hopes of stealing the 2020 presidential election.
