Deplorable: A newly elected GOP congresswoman who praised Hitler while speaking at a Trump rally is now facing calls for her resignation.
Freshman lawmaker Mary Miller, a newly elected congresswoman from Illinois, is being widely condemned after praising Hitler at a “Moms for America” pro-Trump rally held on Tuesday in front of the U.S. Capitol.
Politico reports:
Rep. Mary Miller served less than a week in Congress before moving Illinois Democrats to call for her resignation after she referenced Adolf Hitler in a speech not long before Donald Trump supporters laid siege to the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday.
WCIA reports:
Illinois’ newest member of Congress is facing widespread public backlash after quoting Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler at a political rally in front of the U.S. Capitol Building on Tuesday.
Speaking at the “Moms for America” pro-Trump rally Tuesday Miller praised Hitler, at one point declaring:
Hitler was right on one thing. He said whoever has the youth has the future.
Note: Never start a sentence with the phrase “Hitler was right.” Full stop.
Here’s the full clip. Incoming Illinois Congresswoman Mary Miller didn’t slip or improvise when she quoted Hitler and praised how the murderous Nazi built his political movement by indoctrinating youth. She was reading from prepared remarks. pic.twitter.com/xWPi2u8wB3

As one might imagine, Miller’s deplorable and telling reference enraged many on both the left and the right.
For example, Illinois Rep. Jan Schakowsky said:
She’s been on this earth long enough to know that invoking the beliefs of Hitler as being right in any respect is inappropriate and wrong. It’s wrong enough that she should not be in Congress.
Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker condemned Miller’s comments, calling them “unfathomable and disgusting”:

I want to address the unfathomable and disgusting remarks that the newest member of the Illinois Congressional Delegation made, Mary Miller. Let me be clear: Hitler got nothing right. This reprehensible rhetoric has no place in our politics. Illinois Republicans cannot allow this to stand and must condemn this vile, evil streak in their party. If Rep. Miller was the least bit interested in history, she would visit the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center to learn just how wrong Hitler really was.
Democratic Senator Tammy Duckworth was one of many calling for Miller’s resignation. Duckworth tweeted:
.@RepMaryMiller must resign immediately.
To say that Adolf Hitler, the perpetrator of the worst genocide in world history, is “right” about anything is disqualifying for any supposed “leader” serving in Congress. pic.twitter.com/yfYVmM8qKX

To say that Adolf Hitler, the perpetrator of the worst genocide in world history, is ‘right’ about anything is disqualifying for any supposed ‘leader’ serving in Congress.
As for Miller, in an attempt at damage control, she has issued an apology:

In her attempt at an apology, Miller explained that she praised Hitler while speaking to “a group of mothers about the importance of faith.”
Because nothing better illustrates the nature of conservative Christian values like praising Hitler.
Bottom line: GOP Congresswoman Mary Miller is facing calls for her resignation after praising Hitler while speaking at a Trump rally earlier this week.
