Stein’s running mate sympathized with the Charlie Hebdo terrorists.

Earlier this week, Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein announced that Ajamu Baraka would be her new running mate:

I am honored and excited to announce that my running mate in the 2016 presidential election will be Ajamu Baraka, activist, writer, intellectual and organizer with a powerful voice, vision, and lifelong commitment to building true political revolution.

However, what Stein does not want you to know is that in January 2015, Baraka’s “powerful voice” described a vigil for the victims of the Charlie Hebdo shooting as a “white power march” and labeled the slogan “Je suis Charlie” as an “arrogant rallying cry for white supremacy.”

In a disturbing and profoundly unfair article titled The Charlie Hebdo white power rally in Paris, Baraka attacks the victims of the Charlie Hebdo massacre and their supporters as white supremacists.

Baraka even goes so far as to sympathize with and justify the cause of the Charlie Hebdo terrorists, noting:

It is the arrogant lack of respect for the ideas and culture of non-European peoples that drove the French ban on the wearing of the niqab and other traditional veiling clothing for Muslim women, just one example of the generalized discriminatory treatment of Arabs and Muslims in France.

Baraka continues:

In this larger context, Charlie Hebdo’s blatant disregard and disrespect for another religion, shielded by an absolute commitment to freedom of speech that gives them blanket immunity, is now compounded by the “Je Suis Charlie campaign,” orchestrated in the name of upholding the values of liberal, Western civilization.

Baraka says “upholding the values of liberal, Western civilization,” as if that is a bad thing. Does he oppose the values of liberal, Western civilization? Does he oppose an absolute commitment to freedom of speech?

And exactly what kind of values would he be upholding if by some off chance he was elected vice president?

Are we to believe that this “commitment to building true political revolution” Stein speaks of is a rejection of the values of liberal, Western civilization? A rejection of an absolute commitment to freedom of speech?

Summarizing his thoughts, Baraka declares:

In short, Je Suis Charlie has become an arrogant rallying cry for white supremacy…

Clearly Baraka is confused and demented if he believes support for the victims of Charlie Hebdo amounts to nothing more than “an arrogant rallying cry for white supremacy.”

Perhaps most sinister, and most egregious, is Baraka’s conflation of race and religion. For the record, Islam is not synonymous with black or brown people. And a critique of Islam, or sympathy for the victims of Islamic terrorists, is not a racist endeavor.

It would seem that the Stein campaign is aware of and embarrassed by Baraka’s unfair and unjust attack on the victims of the Charlie Hebdo massacre. Since the announcement that Baraka was Stein’s VP pick, the offensive and odious article was scrubbed from Baraka’s website. However, a copy of the article is still available at Pambazuka News.

(No doubt the Stein campaign is already working behind the scenes to try and scrub the embarrassing and offensive article from Pambazuka News.)

Bottom line: Any candidate who claims the victims of the Charlie Hebdo terrorist attack and their supporters are white supremacists is dangerously deluded. There is no doubt that racism is real, and omnipresent. Yet to brand the victims of the Charlie Hebdo massacre and their supporters as white supremacists demonstrates a profound lack of judgement, and an inability to think critically about international affairs.

In a victory for Islamic terrorism, publishers at Charlie Hebdo declare they will no longer draw the Prophet Muhammad.

In a recent interview the editor of Charlie Hebdo, Laurent Sourisseau, told the German magazine Stern that the publication will no longer publish cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad.

The disappointing statement comes six months after a deadly attack on the magazine’s offices. Last January Islamic terrorists stormed the Paris offices of Charlie Hebdo, a weekly satirical magazine known for lampooning all religions, including Islam and the Prophet Muhammad, killing 12 people.

Sourisseau, who was injured in the terrorist attack against Charlie Hebdo, opined:

We have done our job. We have defended the right to caricature. We have drawn Muhammad to defend the principle that one can draw whatever they want. It is a bit strange though: we are expected to exercise a freedom of expression that no one dares to.

It is hard to blame Sourisseau for giving up on drawing Muhammad after watching his friends and colleagues gunned down for simply publishing a cartoon, and to be later called a racist by misguided liberals and Muslim apologists for daring to publish a cartoon of Muhammad.

It is all too clear that the price for satirizing Islam is dear, a price much higher than the price of satirizing any other religious superstition.

And so in the battle over free speech, the terrorists have won. It is a sad fact that through the use of violence, Islamic extremists have achieved their aim, and made any publication of a drawing of the Prophet Muhammad near impossible.

The main stream media is of course complicit in this tragic and dangerous state of affairs. Their refusal to publish cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad and offend the so-called “delicate sensibilities” of Muslim extremists is hypocritical and cowardly.

Bottom line: A dangerous precedent has been set – if some group is offended by speech, they can silence that speech through violence.

Blasphemy as civic duty in the preservation of liberty: The chief editor of Charlie Hebdo defends controversial depictions of the Muslim Prophet Muhammad, pointing out cartoon parodies of religious figures actually protects freedom of thought, freedom of speech, and even freedom of religion.

Speaking with Chuck Todd on Sunday’s Meet the Press, Gerard Biard, the new chief editor of Charlie Hebdo, explained the secular values motivating the publication, stating:

We only defend but one thing: Freedom, our freedom, secularism, freedom of conscience and democracy.

Biard, in his first interview with an American television network since the Paris terror attack, was asked by Todd to respond to comments made by Pope Francis. In some controversial remarks made last Thursday, Francis implied that the Charlie Hebdo cartoonists provoked the Paris terror attacks, claiming:

One cannot provoke, one cannot insult other people’s faith, one cannot make fun of faith.

In response Biard said:

Every time that we draw a cartoon of Muhammad, every time that we draw a cartoon of a prophet, every time that we draw a cartoon of God, we defend the freedom of conscience, the freedom of thought.

Biard added:

We do not kill anyone. We should stop conflating the murderers with the victims. We must stop declaring that those who write and draw are ‘provocateurs,’ and are throwing gas on the fire. We must not place thinkers and artists in the same category as murderers. We are not warriors.

About the magazine’s newest cover image, Biard said:

(the cover image) is not just a little figure, a little Mohammed drawn by Luz. It’s a symbol. It’s the symbol of freedom of speech, of freedom of religion, of democracy, and secularism

The Charlie Hebdo editor in chief also addressed those newspapers in democratic countries that declined to publish Charlie Hebdo cartoons after the attack, noting:

When they refuse to publish this cartoon … they blur out democracy, secularism, freedom of religion, and they insult the citizenship.  It is this symbol that these newspapers refuse to publish.

When they refuse to publish this cartoon, when they blur it out, when they decline to publish it, they blur out democracy, secularism, freedom of religion, and they insult the citizenship.

On Saturday the distributor of Charlie Hebdo said it had increased the total printing of Wednesday’s “survivors issue” to 7 million in response to unprecedented public demand.

Editor’s Note via NBC: During the interview with Gérard Biard, the chief editor of Charlie Hebdo, there was a mistranslation of the term “liberté de conscience.” In many of the places where “freedom of religion” is heard in English, the correct translation should be “freedom of thought” or “freedom of conscience.”

Blasphemy For The Win: Charlie Hebdo, the satirical newspaper that was the target of a brutal terrorist attack by Islamic extremists in Paris last week, will feature cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad in its next issue.

The next issue of Charlie Hebdo, put together by survivors of last week’s newsroom massacre in Paris by Islamic gunmen, will feature cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed, despite the obvious dangers in offending the “religion of peace.”

Richard Malka, the magazine’s lawyer, said of the decision to print the cartoon:

We will not give in otherwise all this won’t have meant anything.

Malka continued:

The Charlie state of mind is the right to blaspheme… A Je Suis Charlie banner means you have the right to criticise my religion, because it’s not serious…

Malka goes on to draw an important distinction between criticising or even insulting people, and criticizing or insulting ideas:

We have never criticised a Jew because he’s a Jew, a Muslim because he’s a Muslim or a Christian because he’s a Christian. But you can say anything you like, the worst horrors – and we do – about Christianity, Judaism and Islam, because behind the nice slogans, that’s the reality of Charlie Hebdo.

Insulting people for their religious belief is never a good idea. However, to criticize or even insult religious beliefs must be permitted in a free and open society, otherwise that society is neither free nor open.

A million-copy print run of the new edition is expected to be out on Wednesday, and will be translated into 16 languages.

Malka said the new edition will contain cartoons of Prophet Mohammed, along with jibes against politicians and religions across the board.

Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League, has issued a statement blaming the victims of the Charlie Hebdo massacre, claiming “Muslims are right to be angry” about cartoons some found insulting to Islam and the Prophet Mohammed.

In a statement titled “Muslims are right to be angry,” Donohue criticized the publication’s history of offending religious sentiments with comical depictions of religious figures.

Claiming Charlie Hebdo had a “long and disgusting record” of mocking religious figures, Donohue lamented the fact that the publication depicted “nuns masturbating and popes wearing condoms,” as well as “Muhammad in pornographic poses.”

Donohue even went so far as to blame the victim, claiming the murdered Charlie Hebdo editor Stephane Charbonnier “didn’t understand the role he played in his [own] tragic death,” noting “Had [Charbonnier] not been so narcissistic, he may still be alive.”

Donohue writes:

What unites Muslims in their anger against Charlie Hebdo is the vulgar manner in which Muhammad has been portrayed. What they object to is being intentionally insulted over the course of many years. On this aspect, I am in total agreement with them.

In his statement, Donohue tacitly endorses the abhorrent blasphemy laws so prevalent in countries dominated by Islam. In so doing, Donohue demonstrates that Islam does not have a monopoly on dangerous religious extremists that have no respect for freedom.

Donohue’s remarks are insensitive, offensive, asinine, and dangerous. His sympathy for, and tacit endorsement of, Muslim rage over some silly cartoons reveals an astonishing lack of judgement, and a profound poverty of both intellect and character.

Pot meet kettle: Pope Francis warns that spreading fake news is a “serious sin” while claiming a magic man lives in the sky.

A well meaning but morally bankrupt Pope Francis spoke out against the dangers of spreading fake news this weekend, apparently oblivious to the fact that the Catholic Church is built upon a foundation of fake news.

Indeed, claims of a virgin birth and resurrection are rooted in nothing but religious superstition and constitute long standing examples of fake news.

However, either oblivious to or simply not caring about his hypocrisy, Francis, speaking with representatives from Catholic media outlets at a meeting in the Vatican on Saturday, said:

We must not fall prey to the ‘sins of communication:’ disinformation – that is, giving just one side of the argument – slander, which is sensationalistic, or defamation, looking for outdated and old things, and bringing them to light today; they are very grave sins, which damage the heart of the journalist and harm people.

Francis continued:

There is an urgent need for news communicated with serenity, precision, and completeness, with a calm language, so as to favor a fruitful reflection; carefully weighted and clear words, which reject the inflation of allusive, strident and ambiguous speech. It is important that, methodically and with patience, criteria of judgment and information be offered so that the public is able to understand and discern, and is not stunned and disoriented.

Francis is correct to note the problem with fake news, yet he is two-faced and intellectually dishonest when he condemns some fake news while continuing to promote the dangerous fake news that he constantly feeds the gullible and ignorant as head of the Catholic Church.

Indeed, religious superstition is the original fake news.

Yet despite his at times seductive rhetoric that calls to weak minded progressives desperate to find something good in the moral cesspool that is the Catholic church, Pope Francis continues to be a major disappointment, and a huge moral failure.

Previously, in what can only be described as a stunning bit of ironic hypocrisy, Francis, the head of a notoriously sexist institution that routinely discriminates against women, issued a call for equal treatment of women in the workplace.

More serious, in a scathing report, the UN condemned Francis and the Catholic Church for protecting and enabling pedophile priests engaged in the sexual abuse of children. And there is strong evidence Francis continues the Catholic Church’s reprehensible policy of protecting pedophile priests from criminal prosecution.

Yet another report reveals that Francis has been refusing to punish pedophile priests, and instead of cracking down on the sexual abuse of children by clergy in the church, Pope Francis is in reality quietly making the Catholic church a safe space for predators.

Indeed, the recent moral failures of Pope Francis range from the sinister to the comical. Previously a clueless Francis told an audience at St. Peter’s Square that choosing not to have children is “selfish,” apparently forgetting that he is a celibate man without children.

Also, Francis recently endorsed corporal punishment, a form of child abuse, by making the perverse claim that parents hitting children is “beautiful” as long as the act of violence against a child is done with “dignity.”

In addition, Pope Francis also believes that transgender teens should stop complaining, deny their lived experience, and “accept their own body as it was created.”

Perhaps most disturbing, commenting on the Charlie Hebdo massacre, Francis declared “one cannot make fun of faith” and that anyone who throws insults can expect a “punch,” offering a tacit justification for terror and violence in response to a cartoon making fun of religious superstition.

In short, despite the sometimes friendly facade, the occasional superficial liberal rhetoric, and a humorous joke now and then, Pope Francis is a moral failure guilty of perpetuating the institutional immorality of the Catholic Church.

Bottom line: Pope Francis lacks the moral and intellectual authority to be taken seriously about anything. As for fake news, nobody has done a better job of spreading fake news then the Catholic Church.

Pope Francis threatens the godless with hell, but pedophile priests and the nuns who enable them still get a ticket to heaven.

Pope Francis, the religious bigot progressives try to love, claimed that the Godless are on their way to hell while presiding over a magic ceremony honoring two siblings who convinced gullible and ignorant believers that they were in contact with “the Mother Mary.”

ABC reports:

Pope Francis added two Portuguese shepherd children to the roster of Catholic saints Saturday, honoring young siblings whose reported visions of the Virgin Mary 100 years ago turned the Portuguese farm town of Fatima into one of the world’s most important Catholic shrines.

Francis proclaimed Francisco and Jacinta Marto saints at the start of Mass marking the centenary of their visions. A half-million people watched in the vast square in front of the shrine’s basilica, the Vatican said, citing Portuguese authorities. Many had spent days at Fatima in prayer, reciting rosaries before a statue of the Madonna. They clapped as soon as Francis read the proclamation aloud.

While presiding over the magic ceremony Francis went out of his way to admonish “the Godless,” even going so far as to threaten them with eternal torture in hell for not observing his silly religious superstitions.

CRUX, a leading Catholic publication, reports:

Speaking at the famed shrine of Our Lady of Fatima on the 100th anniversary of the apparitions that took place here a century ago, featuring secrets and revelations from Mary, Pope Francis warned hundreds of thousands of faithful not to live a life that profanes God, because doing so leads to Hell.

At the event Francis said:

Our Lady foretold, and warned us about, a way of life that is godless and indeed profanes God in his creatures. Such a life – frequently proposed and imposed – risks leading to Hell.

Yet while this week Francis is threatening the Godless with hell, the same Pope declared earlier this year that it’s “better to be an atheist than a hypocritical Catholic.”

However, despite his confusing rhetoric that sometimes seduces weak minded progressives desperate to find something good in the moral cesspool that is the Catholic church, Pope Francis continues to be a major disappointment, and a big moral failure.

Previously, in what can only be described as a stunning bit of ironic hypocrisy, Francis, the head of a notoriously sexist institution that routinely discriminates against women, issued a call for equal treatment of women in the workplace.

In short, despite the sometimes friendly facade, the occasional superficial liberal rhetoric, and a humorous joke now and then, Pope Francis is a moral failure guilty of perpetuating the institutional immorality of the Catholic Church.

Bottom line: If pedophile priests and those that enable them are in heaven, then maybe hell isn’t the real threat after all.

Chechnya’s President Ramzan Kadyrov promises to eliminate the gay community from the predominantly Muslim country by the start of Ramadan.

Kadyrov’s sinister plans were revealed during an alarming report from Sir Alan Duncan, Minister of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, concerning the anti-gay purge currently taking place in Chechnya.

Speaking on the floor of parliament, British Foreign Minister Alan Duncan declared:

Human rights groups report that these anti-gay campaigns and killings are orchestrated by the head of the Chechen republic, Ramzan Kadyrov.

He has carried out other violent campaigns in the past, and this time he is directing his efforts at the LGBT community. Sources have said that he wants the [LGBT] community eliminated by the start of Ramadan.

PinkNews reports they have “spoken to the Foreign Office, who verified that President Kadyrov made the threat in local Russian language media, seen by the UK government.”

Wow.

Alarming reports of gay men being hunted down, rounded up, and put into concentration camps in Chechnya began to circulate earlier this month.

Russian newspaper Novaya Gazeta is reporting that a secret concentration camp has been set up in the town of Argun to detain gay men arrested in the purge. According to the report, Chechen authorities have set up several camps where homosexuals are killed or beaten and forced to promise to leave the republic.

At the time of the initial report Chechen authorities had rounded up over 100 gay men, and executed at least three of them, among them religious figures and local television personalities.

Previously, President Kadyrov denied reports of the concentration camps, and described the allegations as “absolute lies and disinformation.”

Kadyrov’s spokesman Alvi Karimov told the Interfax News Agency:

You cannot arrest or repress people who just don’t exist in the republic.

If such people existed in Chechnya, law enforcement would not have to worry about them, as their own relatives would have sent them to where they could never return.

In other words, earlier this month the Chechen government’s official line is that the stories about the killing and torturing of gay men in secret concentration camps were false because there are no gay people in Chechnya, and if there were gay people in Chechnya, their families would kill them first.

Now it appears their story has changed, and Kadyrov is apparently promising to eliminate all gay people by the start of Ramadan.

As Head of the Chechen Republic, Kadyrov has introduced Islamic rule in the Muslim-majority region, and has been accused of multiple human rights violations. The Guardian reports Kadyrov has endorsed polygamy, and compulsory wearing of the hijab for women in public places.

In addition, in 2009 Kadyrov stated his approval of honor killings, based on the belief that women are the property of their husbands; and in January 2015 Kadyrov said he would organize protests if a Russian newspaper published the Charlie Hebdo cartoons, saying “we will not allow anyone to insult the prophet, even if it will cost us our lives.”

In short, Chechnya’s President is a moral monster with plans of exterminating all gay people in Chechnya in the name of Islam.

Perhaps more important, Kadyrov is a moral monster who enjoys the backing and support of Russian leader Vladimir Putin, and by extension, the Russian Orthodox Church. Chechnya is part of the the Russian federation, and Kadyrov is Putin’s puppet.

If Putin wanted to stop the extermination of gays in Chechnya, he could. The fact is, Putin is every bit as homophobic as his puppet Kadyrov.

Ramadan starts on May 26 this year.

Pope Francis laments the greed and hypocrisy of many Christians in a recent sermon delivered at his private residence.

During his sermon Francis asked Catholics not to scandalize “the little ones” with duplicity and hypocrisy, declaring it is better to be an atheist than one of the many hypocritical Christians leading a double life.

In his sermon Pope Francis acknowledges that many Christians are hypocrites leading a double life:

It is a scandal to say one thing and do another. That is a double life.

Pope Francis goes on to suggest that it’s better to be an atheist than a greedy Christian. The following is an extended excerpt from his remarks via Vatican Radio:

Cut off your hand, Pluck out your eye, don’t scandalize the little ones.

But what is scandal? Scandal is saying one thing and doing another; it is a double life, a double life. A totally double life: ‘I am very Catholic, I always go to Mass, I belong to this association and that one; but my life is not Christian, I don’t pay my workers a just wage, I exploit people, I am dirty in my business, I launder money…’ A double life. And so many Christians are like this, and these people scandalize others. How many times have we heard – all of us, around the neighbourhood and elsewhere – ‘but to be a Catholic like that, it’s better to be an atheist.’ It is that, scandal. You destroy. You beat down. And this happens every day, it’s enough to see the news on TV, or to read the papers. In the papers there are so many scandals, and there is also the great publicity of the scandals. And with the scandals there is destruction.

However, despite his apparent good humor and sometimes liberal rhetoric, Francis has been, and continues to be, a big disappointment.

Anonymous eliminates over 5,500 Twitter accounts tied to the Islamic State and begins to leak the personal information of suspected ISIS extremists in Operation Paris (#OpParis).

The nebulous and notorious international Internet hacktivist collective known as Anonymous declared war on the Islamic State (IS) earlier this week after the horrific massacre in Paris. The terrorist attack claimed more than 120 lives and stunned the world.

In the wake of the Paris attacks, Anonymous launched Operation Paris with the aim of tracking down members of the terrorist group. Earlier today the operation’s Twitter account @opparisofficial trumpeted their first success, proclaiming that more than 5,500 Islamic State (IS) Twitter accounts had been taken down.

Tech Insider confirms Anonymous has begun posting alleged personal information of suspected ISIS extremists, and has been busy shutting down social media accounts and websites linked to the Islamic State.

The following is an excerpt from a statement issued via YouTube announcing Operation Paris and the war on ISIS:

Hello citizens of the world.

We are anonymous.

The aftermath of Friday, November 13, 2015.

France is shocked by the events caused by terrorism in the capital.

We first wish to express our sorrow and our solidarity with the victims, the injured, and their families.

To defend our values and our freedom, we’re tracking down members of the terrorist group responsible these attacks, we will not give up, we will not forgive, and we’ll do all that is necessary to end their actions.

During the attacks of Charlie Hebdo, we had already expressed our determination to neutralize anyone who would attack our freedom.

We’ll be doing the same now, because of the recents attacks.

Expect a total mobilization on our part.

We are anonymous.

We are legion.

We do not forgive.

We do not forget.

Expect us.

Speaking with the BBC, an Anonymous hacktivist associated with Operation Paris explained the aims of the current operation against the Islamic State:

Our main goal in this operation is to identify the perpetrators of the Paris terror attacks and all terrorist organisations linked to them, acquire intel to dig deep into the roots of their manpower, disable their propaganda and stop their reach on social media, release their information to the public, and flag down any threat to mankind.

Newsweek reports the Islamic State militant group (ISIS) released a statement on Monday responding to Anonymous’s declaration of “total war,” calling the hacker group “idiots” and offering guidance to pro-ISIS supporters to protect against cyber attacks.

Anonymous is a nebulous and notorious international hacktivist collective free of hierarchical leadership structure. Hence, no one press release, no one statement, no one person, no one group of persons, speaks for all who pledge allegiance to the Anonymous collective.

Indeed, the idea that Anonymous is a group, insofar as a group is a static thing, is itself misleading. Anonymous is fluid: a headless monster, a hivemind, an online pool of consciousness sometimes engaged in transformative civil disobedience, and sometimes engaged in mischief.

Bottom line: Anything Anonymous can do to hurt, humiliate, or otherwise disrupt the online activities of the Islamic State is a good thing.
