Good News: The River Church, a Florida megachurch led by controversial Pastor Rodney Howard-Browne, has lost their insurance after holding services during the coronavirus pandemic, ignoring safety guidelines and placing the community at risk.
Orlando Weekly reports:
Rodney Howard-Browne, the head pastor at the River at Tampa Bay Church, who was arrested for holding services during the coronavirus pandemic, said he will not open his megachurch this weekend over fear of his congregation’s safety and to protect them from “government tyranny.” However, his lawyer is now saying he also lost his insurance.
Howard-Browne’s lawyer, Mat Staver of the Liberty Counsel, announced that the church had lost their insurance after the controversial pastor was arrested by Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister for demonstrating a “reckless disregard for human life” after holding Sunday services in violation of county orders calling for social distancing.
On Monday, the sheriff held this circus of a press conference and frankly lied to the American people and around the world. Defamed this pastor, put him at risk, painted a target on his back – on the back of the church. Ultimately resulting in death threats, even the cancellation of insurance by the insurance carrier. This has got to stop.
While death threats are always unacceptable, the fact that the church lost their insurance is a good thing, given the danger Howard-Browne placed the community in with his reckless behavior.
Speaking at a press conference last week announcing the arrest of the controversial pastor, Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said Pastor Rodney Howard-Browne “repeatedly” violated social distancing orders from the CDC and local authorities, noting:
His reckless disregard for human life put hundreds of people in his congregation at risk and thousands of residents who may interact with them this week in danger.
Late last month Pastor Howard-Browne promised he would continue holding church services because he has 13 magic machines that will “shoot down” and “neutralize” the coronavirus.
Previously the pastor mocked the coronavirus pandemic, claiming that his church will never close “because we’re raising up revivalists, not pansies.”
Bottom line: After demonstrating a “reckless disregard for human life,” controversial Florida megachurch Pastor Rodney Howard-Browne of The River Church was arrested, and as a consequence the church lost their insurance.
