A morally bankrupt Pope Francis claims getting an abortion is like “hiring a hitman” only weeks after issuing a new church mandate that sexual abuse must be reported to church officials, but not the police.

Francis, a broken and pathetic human being who continues to tacitly defend and promote the rape and sexual abuse of children at the hands of pedophile priests, believes he has the moral authority to make pronouncements about women’s reproductive freedom.

CNN reports:

Pope Francis likened having an abortion to hiring a “hitman” while speaking at the “Yes to Life” anti-abortion conference in Rome Saturday.

The Pontiff stated that abortion was never acceptable — not even in instances when fetuses are seriously ill — and urged doctors to support women to complete all pregnancies.

“Is it licit to eliminate a human life to solve a problem?…Is it licit to hire a hitman to solve a problem?” the Pope asked members of the audience.

“It is not lawful. Never, ever eliminate a human life or hire a hitman to solve a problem,” he added.

Francis is wrong. Abortion is not murder, and getting an abortion is not like “hiring a hitman.” However, what is even more disturbing is that this pedophile enabling con-man believes that he has any moral authority whatsoever.

Pope Francis leads the biggest criminal organization in the world, an organization that has facilitated the rape and sexual abuse of children and others for decades if not centuries.

Indeed, we have known for quite some time that the Catholic Church has been protecting and enabling pedophile priests. We have also known for quite some time that the church has made considerable efforts to deny the charges, always trying to deny and push accusations under the rug, often by re-victimizing the children raped and sexually abused by priests in the first place.

Yet despite overwhelming evidence that the Catholic Church is a profoundly and irredeemably morally corrupt institution that allows children to be treated as disposable sex toys for predatory clergy, Catholics continue to support the church. In so doing, Catholics fund the cover-up, and make the continuing rape and sexual abuse of children by Catholic clergy possible.

In short, supporting the Catholic Church means supporting the rape and sexual abuse of children. And that means that every practicing Catholic is complicit in the rape and sexual abuse of children by predatory priests. Full stop.

Bottom line: While leading the world’s largest criminal organization dedicated to the rape and sexual abuse of children, a morally bankrupt Pope Francis claims that getting an abortion is like “hiring a hitman.”

Moral failure: Pope Francis issues new church law that sexual abuse must be reported to church officials, but not the police, not the state, not the secular authorities.

The BBC reports:

Pope Francis has made it mandatory for Roman Catholic clergy to report cases of clerical sexual abuse and cover-ups to the Church.

Many in the mainstream media are praising the new law as “groundbreaking.” And to be fair, it is a slight improvement. Previously church officials were not mandated to report sexual abuse, or suspected sexual abuse, to anyone. The new church law changes that. The BBC notes:

For the first time, clerics and other Church officials will be obliged to disclose any allegations they may have heard. Previously, this had been left to each individual’s discretion.

Yet the new law mandates that reports be made to church superiors, not the police, not the state, not the secular authorities. Reporting on the story The Guardian notes:

However, the church law does not require police to be notified. The Vatican has said that different countries’ legal systems make a universal reporting law impossible, and that imposing one could endanger the church in places where Catholics are a persecuted minority.

Writing for Friendly Atheist, Hemant Mehta finds that the new laws for reporting abuse “don’t go far enough” noting:

There’s no rule requiring priests to report the allegations to law enforcement officials.

There’s no penalty for Church leaders who don’t follow the rules.

There’s no rule about financial reparations for victims.

If an abuser confesses his crimes to a priest in a confessional booth, it’s still considered sacred, secret information.

Peter Isely, a survivor of sexual abuse and one of the founding members of Ending Clergy Abuse, explains the obvious problem with the Pope’s new law:

Bishops reporting to themselves, that’s been the problem from the beginning. All they did was add another layer of bureaucracy; this doesn’t require civil authorities. What we need are police and prosecutors.

Isley added:

This isn’t just about letting us down. It’s about leaving children at risk. Around the world, right now, kids are at risk of being hurt. The church fails survivors over and over again – they make promises it’ll get better, and then those promises are broken.

Zach Hiner, executive director of the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP), echoes the concern that the new law does not require police to be notified. Hiner said:

If the church was truly listening to the pulse of the public and of survivors, they would know that they should be mandating priests and nuns report everything to outside, secular authorities.

I get the argument that in some places of the world Catholics are discriminated against. However, for most of the world, that’s not the case. In most of the world we have police and prosecutors who care about local communities and want to keep them safe, and that’s who we charge to get to the bottom of things like this.

Indeed, we have known for decades that the Catholic Church has been protecting and enabling pedophile priests. We have also known for decades that the church has made considerable efforts to deny the charges, always trying to deny and push accusations under the rug, often by re-victimizing the children raped and sexually abused by priests in the first place.

Yet despite overwhelming evidence that the Catholic Church is a profoundly and irredeemably morally corrupt institution that allows children to be treated as disposable sex toys for predatory clergy, Catholics continue to support the church. In so doing Catholics fund the cover-up, and make the continuing rape and sexual abuse of children by Catholic clergy possible.

In short, supporting the Catholic Church means supporting the rape and sexual abuse of children. And that means that every practicing Catholic is complicit in the rape and sexual abuse of children by predatory priests. The new law from Pope Francis will not change this sad fact.

Bottom line: By not requiring the police or other secular authorities to be notified, Pope Francis continues to enable the rape and sexual abuse of children by Catholic clergy.

And so it goes.

It’s not just children: Pope Francis confirms that clerics have been sexually abusing nuns, and even keeping nuns as sex slaves.

Speaking to reporters while on a historic tour of the Middle East, Pope Francis spoke about the alarming and well documented epidemic of sexual abuse in the Catholic Church. However, instead of discussing the usual horror of priests raping children, Pope Francis instead spoke of the less well known epidemic of priests sexually abusing nuns.

USA Today reports:

Speaking to reporters Tuesday, Francis noted that Pope Benedict XVI had taken action against a France-based order after some of its religious sisters had been reduced to “sexual slavery” at the hands of the priest who founded the order and other priests.

Commenting on the ongoing sexual abuse of nuns by Catholic clergy, Francis said:

Should we do something more? Yes. Is there the will? Yes. But it’s a path that we have already begun.

Francis added:

It’s not that everyone does this, but there have been priests and bishops who have. And I think that it’s continuing because it’s not like once you realize it that it stops. It continues. And for some time we’ve been working on it.

The BBC notes:

It is thought to be the first time that Pope Francis has acknowledged the sexual abuse of nuns by the clergy.

USA Today notes:

In the past year, The Associated Press and other media have reported on cases of abused nuns in India, Africa, Europe and South America – evidence that the problem is by no means limited to a certain geographic area.

Last month Father Hermann Geissler, the top Vatican official in charge of investigating sex abuse in the Catholic Church, resigned from the position after being found to have been sexually harassing and abusing women, including a young nun, while they were in confession.

Bottom line: According to Pope Francis, Catholic priests and bishops are not only raping children, they are also raping nuns, and even going so far as to hold nuns as sex slaves.

The horror that is the Catholic Church continues….

As a Cardinal in Argentina Pope Francis was told that priests were raping deaf children but did nothing to stop the sexual abuse and punish the abusers.

In a sordid report from the Daily Beast comes a tragic tale of the systematic rape and sexual abuse of deaf orphans by Catholic priests and monks, a story that begins in Italy and ends in Argentina, where the future Pope Francis was then known as Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio.

The story explains how deaf children were groomed for sexual abuse, noting:

The priests and monks created their own sick sign language to command the deaf and mute boys to perform oral sex and be sodomized.

The details of the story are sickening, and begin in Italy, with a boy named “Giuseppe,” who “was born to impoverished parents outside of Verona in northern Italy with a congenital birth defect that left him deaf and mute.”

The deaf boy was eventually enrolled at the Antonio Provolo Institute for deaf and mute children. The Daily Beast reports:

When he was 11, a monk who worked at the institute as an educator started teaching “special secret signs” for things like masturbation, fellatio, penis, and anus. “I didn’t understand at first just why this man was teaching me these strange secret signs,” Giuseppe explained in an exclusive, and very emotional, interview in Rome. “Then one day it became very clear when one of the priests made the secret sign for fellatio when we were alone, which was followed by him pushing his erect penis into my mouth.”

Giuseppe reports:

Of course we screamed and cried. Sometimes you would see priests coming into the dormitory at night, or you would see friends with tears rolling down their faces and you knew exactly what had just happened. You didn’t need to hear to know.

Eventually Giuseppe grew up and escaped the abuse, and made it his mission to report it. He is now “one of 67 young boys who have been named in court documents and were allegedly abused by more than two dozen priests and brothers at the Provolo Institute.”

After the abuse claims of Giuseppe and others became public, the offending priests and monks were quietly shipped off to Argentina. This is standard practice for the Catholic church, and has been for decades. When a priest is caught raping and sexually assaulting children, he is quietly moved to a new location, where the pattern resumes.

The offending priests from Italy were shipped to another school for the deaf run by Catholics, only this school was in Argentina, where Pope Francis was serving as Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio. The Daily Beast reports:

One of the most notorious alleged offenders was Father Nicola Corradi, now 83, who was moved to South America in the mid-1980s after Giuseppe and others’ abuse claims came to light. Rather than handing him over to secular authorities or asking the mother church in Rome to defrock him, the bishop transferred him to the Provolo Institute in Mendoza, Argentina. Several other priests accused of abuse in Verona were also transferred to the sister school in Argentina, but have since passed away.

At the Provolo Institute in Mendoza, Argentina, under the direction of Father Nicola Corradi, the abuse of deaf children continued. Corradi “was finally arrested in 2016 on allegations that he abused 22 deaf and mute children over the course of nearly three  decades. Three other priests were arrested with him. There are more than 60 civil trials going on across Argentina against priests like Corradi who allegedly abused children.”

As for the abuse in Argentina, The Daily Beast notes:

Julieta Añazco was one of those victims at the [Argentinian] Provolo Institute. She says she was first abused by Father Ricardo Giménez, who worked at the institute. He first attacked her when she was just seven years old, she says, when the two were in a tent being used as a confessional at a Catholic youth festival. The abuse went on for three years before her parents found out and filed a complaint. Giménez was then transferred by the Archdiocese of Buenos Aires, under the direction of then-Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, now Pope Francis.

In other words, Pope Francis knew about the sexual abuse, but did nothing to prosecute the criminals. He simply transferred the child raping priests to a new location. According to the report, victims from the Provolo Institute repeatedly asked for a meeting with the then Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, now Pope Francis. However, Bergoglio refused to meet with the victims.

In 2013 Añazco and other victims from the Provolo Institute sent a registered letter of protest to Pope Francis, reminding him that he had ignored the reports of abuse. Pope Francis has not replied.

Father Giménez is still an active priest.

Bottom line: As a Cardinal in Argentina Pope Francis was told that priests were raping deaf children but did nothing to punish the predatory priests.

In a letter filled with empty rhetoric Pope Francis offers thoughts and prayers while expressing his sorrow that Catholic clergy was once again caught raping and sexually abusing children.

CNN reports:

Pope Francis has acknowledged “with shame and repentance” the Catholic Church’s failure to act over sexual abuse by clerics against minors going back decades, writing “we showed no care for the little ones; we abandoned them.”

In the letter released by the Vatican on Monday, Pope Francis writes:

I acknowledge once more the suffering endured by many minors due to sexual abuse, the abuse of power and the abuse of conscience perpetrated by a significant number of clerics and consecrated persons.

Looking back to the past, no effort to beg pardon and to seek to repair the harm done will ever be sufficient. Looking ahead to the future, no effort must be spared to create a culture able to prevent such situations from happening, but also to prevent the possibility of their being covered up and perpetuated.

While the letter is filled with trite, feel-good pablum for gullible Catholics, it offers nothing concrete to address the criminal activities of the Catholic Church, activities that include not only the rape and sexual abuse of children, but the criminal conspiracy to cover up those crimes, a criminal conspiracy at every level of the Catholic Church, from the Vatican on down, to protect and enable the predator priests raping and sexually abusing children.

To be clear, the letter from Pope Francis does not call for resignations; the letter does not call for changes to policy or procedures; the letter does not call for criminal prosecutions.

Instead, Pope Francis calls on Catholics to engage in “penance and prayer” while suggesting that “fasting” is the way to combat sexual abuse:

penance and prayer will help us to open our eyes and our hearts to other people’s sufferings and to overcome the thirst for power and possessions that are so often the root of those evils. May fasting and prayer open our ears to the hushed pain felt by children, young people and the disabled. A fasting that can make us hunger and thirst for justice and impel us to walk in the truth, supporting all the judicial measures that may be necessary. A fasting that shakes us up and leads us to be committed in truth and charity with all men and women of good will, and with society in general, to combatting all forms of the abuse of power, sexual abuse and the abuse of conscience.

Pope Francis is wrong. Prayer, penance and fasting is not a strategy to combat the rape and sexual abuse of children by predatory priests. However, criminal prosecutions for every Catholic official raping and sexually abusing children, as well as criminal prosecution for every Catholic official involved in the cover of the rape and sexual abuse of children by predator priests, would be a start. However, such a policy would expose Pope Francis himself to criminal prosecution, as he is the leader of the criminal conspiracy that defends and enables predator priests.

Anne Barrett Doyle, co-director of the watchdog website BishopAccountability.org, called the letter “2,000 words of recycled rhetoric” that failed to provide concrete measures to make ending abuse a priority. Doyle notes:

In the wake of the atrocities detailed in the Pennsylvania grand jury report, heartsick Catholics again look to the pope, yearning for a specific plan for ending the cover-up once and for all.His rambling letter today dashes this hope.

Doyle is correct: The letter is empty rhetoric from a moral coward unwilling to protect children from predator priests. However, the tepid and vacuous reaction from Francis should come as no surprise.

A  2017 in-depth report from the Associated Press found that Pope Francis was “quietly making the Catholic church a safe space for pedophile priests.”

The report found that Pope Francis has been reducing sanctions against pedophile priests, and even refusing to defrock priests found guilty of sexually abusing children, all in the name of mercy.

Bottom line: Pope Francis is sorry Catholic clergy got caught raping and sexually abusing children again, and he sends his thoughts and prayers to the kids raped and sexually assaulted by his priests.

ProTip – There’s no heaven either: Pope Francis declares “There is no Hell” and the Vatican panics, denies the claim, and reassures the faithful that sinners will burn for eternity.

Speaking with respected journalist Eugenio Scalfari, the founder of one of Italy’s leading newspapers, La Repubblica, Pope Francis explained that there is no Hell, and that sinners will not be punished for eternity.

At one point in the interview, Scalfari asked the Pope:

Your Holiness, in our previous meeting you told me that our species will disappear in a certain moment and that God, still out of his creative force, will create new species. You have never spoken to me about the souls who died in sin and will go to hell to suffer it for eternity. You have however spoken to me of good souls, admitted to the contemplation of God. But what about bad souls? Where are they punished?

Pope Francis replied:

They are not punished, those who repent obtain the forgiveness of God and enter the rank of souls who contemplate him, but those who do not repent and cannot therefore be forgiven disappear. There is no hell, there is the disappearance of sinful souls.

In an attempt at damage control, the Vatican immediately released a statement attacking Scalfari’s report on the remarks made by Pope Francis concerning Hell, declaring:

The Holy Father Francis recently received the founder of the newspaper La Repubblica in a private meeting on the occasion of Easter, without however giving him any interviews. What is reported by the author in today’s article [in La Repubblica] is the result of his reconstruction, in which the textual words pronounced by the Pope are not quoted. No quotation of the aforementioned article must therefore be considered as a faithful transcription of the words of the Holy Father.

For the record, the Catechism of the Catholic Church states:

The teaching of the Church affirms the existence of hell and its eternity. Immediately after death the souls of those who die in a state of mortal sin descend into hell, where they suffer the punishments of hell, “eternal fire.” The chief punishment of hell is eternal separation from God, in whom alone man can possess the life and happiness for which he was created and for which he longs.

Bottom line: After Pope Francis declared “There is no Hell” the Vatican panicked, and issued a correction, reassuring the faithful that sinners will burn for eternity in Hell. Because, after all, what’s the point of being a Catholic or a Christian if you can’t enjoy the thought of other people suffering for eternity?

Pot meet kettle: Pope Francis warns that spreading fake news is a “serious sin” while claiming a magic man lives in the sky.

A well meaning but morally bankrupt Pope Francis spoke out against the dangers of spreading fake news this weekend, apparently oblivious to the fact that the Catholic Church is built upon a foundation of fake news.

Indeed, claims of a virgin birth and resurrection are rooted in nothing but religious superstition and constitute long standing examples of fake news.

However, either oblivious to or simply not caring about his hypocrisy, Francis, speaking with representatives from Catholic media outlets at a meeting in the Vatican on Saturday, said:

We must not fall prey to the ‘sins of communication:’ disinformation – that is, giving just one side of the argument – slander, which is sensationalistic, or defamation, looking for outdated and old things, and bringing them to light today; they are very grave sins, which damage the heart of the journalist and harm people.

Francis continued:

There is an urgent need for news communicated with serenity, precision, and completeness, with a calm language, so as to favor a fruitful reflection; carefully weighted and clear words, which reject the inflation of allusive, strident and ambiguous speech. It is important that, methodically and with patience, criteria of judgment and information be offered so that the public is able to understand and discern, and is not stunned and disoriented.

Francis is correct to note the problem with fake news, yet he is two-faced and intellectually dishonest when he condemns some fake news while continuing to promote the dangerous fake news that he constantly feeds the gullible and ignorant as head of the Catholic Church.

Indeed, religious superstition is the original fake news.

Yet despite his at times seductive rhetoric that calls to weak minded progressives desperate to find something good in the moral cesspool that is the Catholic church, Pope Francis continues to be a major disappointment, and a huge moral failure.

Previously, in what can only be described as a stunning bit of ironic hypocrisy, Francis, the head of a notoriously sexist institution that routinely discriminates against women, issued a call for equal treatment of women in the workplace.

More serious, in a scathing report, the UN condemned Francis and the Catholic Church for protecting and enabling pedophile priests engaged in the sexual abuse of children. And there is strong evidence Francis continues the Catholic Church’s reprehensible policy of protecting pedophile priests from criminal prosecution.

Yet another report reveals that Francis has been refusing to punish pedophile priests, and instead of cracking down on the sexual abuse of children by clergy in the church, Pope Francis is in reality quietly making the Catholic church a safe space for predators.

Indeed, the recent moral failures of Pope Francis range from the sinister to the comical. Previously a clueless Francis told an audience at St. Peter’s Square that choosing not to have children is “selfish,” apparently forgetting that he is a celibate man without children.

Also, Francis recently endorsed corporal punishment, a form of child abuse, by making the perverse claim that parents hitting children is “beautiful” as long as the act of violence against a child is done with “dignity.”

In addition, Pope Francis also believes that transgender teens should stop complaining, deny their lived experience, and “accept their own body as it was created.”

Perhaps most disturbing, commenting on the Charlie Hebdo massacre, Francis declared “one cannot make fun of faith” and that anyone who throws insults can expect a “punch,” offering a tacit justification for terror and violence in response to a cartoon making fun of religious superstition.

In short, despite the sometimes friendly facade, the occasional superficial liberal rhetoric, and a humorous joke now and then, Pope Francis is a moral failure guilty of perpetuating the institutional immorality of the Catholic Church.

Bottom line: Pope Francis lacks the moral and intellectual authority to be taken seriously about anything. As for fake news, nobody has done a better job of spreading fake news then the Catholic Church.

Pope Francis threatens the godless with hell, but pedophile priests and the nuns who enable them still get a ticket to heaven.

Pope Francis, the religious bigot progressives try to love, claimed that the Godless are on their way to hell while presiding over a magic ceremony honoring two siblings who convinced gullible and ignorant believers that they were in contact with “the Mother Mary.”

ABC reports:

Pope Francis added two Portuguese shepherd children to the roster of Catholic saints Saturday, honoring young siblings whose reported visions of the Virgin Mary 100 years ago turned the Portuguese farm town of Fatima into one of the world’s most important Catholic shrines.

Francis proclaimed Francisco and Jacinta Marto saints at the start of Mass marking the centenary of their visions. A half-million people watched in the vast square in front of the shrine’s basilica, the Vatican said, citing Portuguese authorities. Many had spent days at Fatima in prayer, reciting rosaries before a statue of the Madonna. They clapped as soon as Francis read the proclamation aloud.

While presiding over the magic ceremony Francis went out of his way to admonish “the Godless,” even going so far as to threaten them with eternal torture in hell for not observing his silly religious superstitions.

CRUX, a leading Catholic publication, reports:

Speaking at the famed shrine of Our Lady of Fatima on the 100th anniversary of the apparitions that took place here a century ago, featuring secrets and revelations from Mary, Pope Francis warned hundreds of thousands of faithful not to live a life that profanes God, because doing so leads to Hell.

At the event Francis said:

Our Lady foretold, and warned us about, a way of life that is godless and indeed profanes God in his creatures. Such a life – frequently proposed and imposed – risks leading to Hell.

Yet while this week Francis is threatening the Godless with hell, the same Pope declared earlier this year that it’s “better to be an atheist than a hypocritical Catholic.”

However, despite his confusing rhetoric that sometimes seduces weak minded progressives desperate to find something good in the moral cesspool that is the Catholic church, Pope Francis continues to be a major disappointment, and a big moral failure.

Earlier this year, another report revealed that Francis has been refusing to punish pedophile priests, and instead of cracking down on the sexual abuse of children by clergy in the church, Pope Francis is in reality quietly making the Catholic church a safe space for predators.

Indeed, the recent moral failures of Pope Francis range from the sinister to the comical. Earlier a clueless Francis told an audience at St. Peter’s Square that choosing not to have children is “selfish,” apparently forgetting that he is a celibate man without children.

In short, despite the sometimes friendly facade, the occasional superficial liberal rhetoric, and a humorous joke now and then, Pope Francis is a moral failure guilty of perpetuating the institutional immorality of the Catholic Church.

Bottom line: If pedophile priests and those that enable them are in heaven, then maybe hell isn’t the real threat after all.

A new report reveals Pope Francis is quietly making the Catholic church a safe space for pedophile priests.

The Associated Press reports that Pope Francis is reducing sanctions against pedophile priests, and even refusing to defrock priests found guilty of sexually abusing children, all in the name of mercy.

In one particularly egregious case, Francis let off one notorious pedophile priest, Rev. Mauro Inzoli, with just a lifetime of prayer for abusing five young boys.

The Associated Press reports about the Pope’s leniency towards pedophile priests:

One case has come back to haunt him: An Italian priest who received the pope’s clemency was later convicted by an Italian criminal court for his sex crimes against children as young as 12. The Rev. Mauro Inzoli is now facing a second church trial after new evidence emerged against him, The Associated Press has learned.

The Inzoli case is one of several in which Francis overruled the advice of the Vatican’s Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and reduced a sentence that called for the priest to be defrocked, two canon lawyers and a church official told AP. Instead, the priests were sentenced to penalties including a lifetime of penance and prayer and removal from public ministry.

The report notes that by refusing to punish pedophile priests Francis is going against the recommendations of his advisers in an attempt to show “mercy.”

In an attempt to justify the Pope’s refusal to fully punish pedophile priests in the name of “mercy,” Vatican spokesman Greg Burke said:

The Holy Father understands that many victims and survivors can find any sign of mercy in this area difficult. But he knows that the Gospel message of mercy is ultimately a source of powerful healing and of grace.

In other words, no justice for victims, no justice for the children raped and abused by Catholic priests, but mercy for the pedophile priests who rape children.

Bottom line: Pope Francis, like the Catholic church he leads, is morally bankrupt.

Pope Francis laments the greed and hypocrisy of many Christians in a recent sermon delivered at his private residence.

During his sermon Francis asked Catholics not to scandalize “the little ones” with duplicity and hypocrisy, declaring it is better to be an atheist than one of the many hypocritical Christians leading a double life.

In his sermon Pope Francis acknowledges that many Christians are hypocrites leading a double life:

It is a scandal to say one thing and do another. That is a double life.

Pope Francis goes on to suggest that it’s better to be an atheist than a greedy Christian. The following is an extended excerpt from his remarks via Vatican Radio:

Cut off your hand, Pluck out your eye, don’t scandalize the little ones.

But what is scandal? Scandal is saying one thing and doing another; it is a double life, a double life. A totally double life: ‘I am very Catholic, I always go to Mass, I belong to this association and that one; but my life is not Christian, I don’t pay my workers a just wage, I exploit people, I am dirty in my business, I launder money…’ A double life. And so many Christians are like this, and these people scandalize others. How many times have we heard – all of us, around the neighbourhood and elsewhere – ‘but to be a Catholic like that, it’s better to be an atheist.’ It is that, scandal. You destroy. You beat down. And this happens every day, it’s enough to see the news on TV, or to read the papers. In the papers there are so many scandals, and there is also the great publicity of the scandals. And with the scandals there is destruction.

However, despite his apparent good humor and sometimes liberal rhetoric, Francis has been, and continues to be, a big disappointment.

Indeed, the recent moral failures of Pope Francis range from the sinister to the comical. Earlier a clueless Francis told an audience at St. Peter’s Square that choosing not to have children is “selfish,” apparently forgetting that he is a celibate man without children.
