LOST and Egyptology

LOST is of particular interest to Egyptologists, whose services have been called upon once again to explain some of the showโ€™s mythology, hieroglyphics, and symbolism. DocArtz points out an article in Popular Mechanics which in turn enlists the help of Dr. James Allen, Wilbour Professor of Egyptology and Chair of Egyptology and Ancient Western Asian Studies at Brown University, to translate what is written on the poster for the final season. Allen is quoted as saying, โ€œThe hieroglyphs spell out two Egyptian words, meaning โ€˜Who is the guide?โ€™ or โ€˜Who is the leader?'โ€

And elsewhere in LOST-related Egyptology, Kate Phizackerley links to a photo of a newly-discovered image of Taweret. Taweret is known to LOST fans from the four-toed statue that Jacob inhabits โ€“ er, inhabited.
