YouTube as a Resource for Keyboard Players

YouTube as a Resource for Keyboard Players October 13, 2009

As I posted on Friday night, the Cinema Show solo is coming along, and so all that’s left is to keep practicing it. Presumably the place to go next is the keyboard solo from In The Cage. I actually tried learning it by ear many years ago, and I’m surprised that at key parts I got the key and the notes largely right. Here are two YouTube videos of people playing the solo:

I’ve not found that there is actual published sheet music for “In The Cage” solo, and so I want to say once again that it is simply fantastic that nowadays we can supplement working on learning music by ear with “looking over the shoulder” of other people who are further along in the process of doing the same, and who have been kind enough to share a video of their playing online.

Any suggestions for other great keyboard pieces/solos to work on? Unless I hear better suggestions, this is the one I’m thinking of moving onto next. And here’s a video that really shows what can be done with the right player and the right equipment…
