LOST Lighthouse

LOST Lighthouse February 23, 2010

[SPOILER ALERT] I was very tempted to call this blog post the “return of Adam and Eve.” In tonight’s episode we got to see once again the cave, the skeletons, and the coffin from which Christian Shepherd’s body was missing. We are being reminded, presumably because it is important. And Hurley himself raises the possibility that those skeletons could belong to them if they time travel again to the past.

Jacob tells Hugo that he needs his help bringing someone to the island. Hugo has to bring Jack and go through a secret passage in the temple. We could really do with some help with the hieroglyphics.

They eventually find their way to a lighthouse, and go up to shift the mirror to reflect the sun out towards the ocean. As they turn it past 23 degrees (aiming for 108 as per Jacob’s instructions) Jack sees the house he grew up in. Their names are on the large gear that turns the mirror.

The lighthouse didn’t help ships, but helped draw people to the island. And so the big question is who is at 108 degrees? My guess is the man who pushed a button every 108 minutes.

There was also a very cool commercial for “V” in which Anna mentioned LOST!

UPDATE: On the ABC LOST discussion site, some are claiming that the name at 108 was Wallace and that it was already crossed off. It seems possible that perhaps the only aim of the trip to the lighthouse was for Jack to learn how important he is – and presumably also that he has what it takes.
