C. K. Barrett (1917-2011)

C. K. Barrett (1917-2011) August 27, 2011

Michael Halcomb was the first biblioblogger to break the news that Charles Kingsley Barrett has passed away at the age of 94.

C. K. Barrett was Professor of Divinity at the University of Durham until his retirement in 1982, when James D. G. Dunn, my Doktorvater, became the Lightfoot Professor of Divinity.

When I was a student in Durham, well after his retirement, Barrett would still attend New Testament seminars at the Department of Theology from time to time, and it was a real privilege to have him present with us.

His many works on a range of subjects remain standard and essential references for anyone working in the field of New Testament studies.
