First Day of Classes

First Day of Classes August 29, 2013

Today was the first day that the two traditional-format classes that I am teaching this semester met.

Last night I had a dream that I was in front of a class on the first day. It was my class on the Bible, which I am not teaching this semester. It had almost slipped my mind to show a video clip that I normally use, and try as I might to bring it onto the screen now, everything seemed to be frozen and unresponsive.

I shared a cartoon not long ago about people having ongoing nightmares about being a student. At least mine are more up to date!

Both of my classes which I taught today – “Religion and Science Fiction” and “First Year Seminar: Faith, Doubt, and Reason,” got off to a good start, I thought. If you are involved in education, whether as a teacher or professor or as a student, has your academic year gotten off to a good start?
