100 Years of Teaching

100 Years of Teaching May 29, 2014

KDRV News shared the above list of rules for teachers from a hundred years ago, in conjunction with the celebration of the centennary of Ruch School, from which the list comes (HT Shelley Ross). It is interesting to reflect on – the gender assumption about who would teach, the need to get there early to warm up the building, the behavior codes. But one could easily make too much of the differences or the similarities to our time.

Unlike one that has circulated much more widely, this list of rules seems to be authentic.

I will resist commenting on it further in the post, and leave that for the comments section. Does anyone have an authentic list of rules for teachers from our time, to compare with this one?
