ΘeoCon 2019

ΘeoCon 2019 June 10, 2019

Matt Brake shared the call for submissions for ΘeoCon 2019, and I want to do likewise, not least so as to remind myself to submit something! Here’s what he shared:

Hello All Theology (and Religion in general) and Pop Culture Lovers!

There is no doubt that pop culture mediums have challenged and inspired us in the best of ways.

ΘeoCon welcomes you to the place where theology and morality meet pop culture and where faith meets fiction. In a comic-con style venue, ΘeoCon will offer you a chance to explore connections between speculative fiction, fandoms and pop culture, and how myths make meaning in today’s world!

Last year, ΘeoCon launched its initial meeting at Virginia Theological Seminary (VTS) in Alexandria, VA (read brief reviews here and here). Due to some remodeling at VTS, we have sought a new venue, and Messiah College in Harrisburg, PA has opened its doors to us (thank you!) for 2019 (TBD for 2020).

Fans, podcasters, academics, and any other lovers of Theology and Pop Culture I have neglected to mention are welcome to submit proposals for our plenary sessions. This event is both interreligious and ecumenical.

Proposals are due by July 31.

You can find the proposal form here.
