CUNY Games Conference 6.0 #CFP

CUNY Games Conference 6.0 #CFP August 29, 2019

The CUNY Games Network (City University of New York) invites all involved in higher education pedagogy — faculty, administrators, graduate students, undergraduates, and game designers — to submit a talk or posters on the theory and practice of play and games, including interactive classroom learning activities. We also welcome game demos and playtesting that focus on higher education.

See the bottom of this page to submit your proposal.

In your submission, you will be asked to choose from the following formats:

  •         15-minute talk
  •         50-minute panel (for three or more speakers).
  •         Poster
  •         Game demonstration
  •         Game Playtest

The game demonstrations and posters will be together in our arcade area on day 1 or day 2. Game demonstrations should be of finished or mostly finished games. You are encouraged to apply to give both a talk and a game demonstration or playtest. Please submit each separately.

Playtesting will be on day 3, with a prize for best new game developed. If you are submitting to playtest a game, even vague ideas are welcome, and we will allow playtest submissions until the end of day 2 of the conference.

Panels will be asked to submit one proposal for the entire panel. Innovative panel ideas are encouraged!

We also especially encourage participation by undergraduate researchers.

All proposals must have a clear and explicit relevance to higher education, and this connection must be explicitly stated in your proposal. We will not accept submissions for commercial presentations that attempt to sell a product.

Your proposal must include: session format; contact information for the corresponding presenter; name, affiliation, and email address for each additional presenter; title, abstract of 500 words or less; 250 (or fewer) words on connections to higher education; keywords selected from a list on the submission form; and special requests (e.g., scheduling or equipment needs). Please proofread and edit your proposal before submission. Accepted proposals will be published in our conference proceedings.
