I am sharing the following announcement that Geoff Smith shared on Facebook:
We are pleased to announce that the next meeting of the Nag Hammadi and Gnosticism Network will be held at Colorado College in Colorado Springs on November 16–18, just prior to the 2022 AAR/SBL Annual Meeting in Denver.
We invite proposals for papers on any Nag Hammadi- or Gnostic-related text/topic. We are especially interested in papers that consider representations of Peter, apostolic authority, early Christianity in Rome, and/or consider the role of these traditions in emerging notions of catholicism. If we receive more proposals than can be accommodated, we will prioritize papers from doctoral students.
As usual, the meeting will also involve small group translation of a Coptic text; this year, we’ll read The Acts of Peter and the Twelve Apostles (NHC VI,1). We will follow up soon with news of our keynote speaker.
To propose a paper, please submit a title and abstract of 350 words to nhgnetwork@gmail.com by September 15; we will reply with decisions relatively quickly. If you plan to attend the meeting, please let us know via email by September 22 (the sooner the better, for planning purposes). Accepted papers must be submitted for pre-circulation by October 15.
Limited funding will be available to subsidize housing during the meeting for graduate students, post-doc, and junior faculty with limited institutional support. Please let us know if you require housing assistance, and we will try to accommodate as many participants as possible. We plan to provide bus transportation to the Denver Convention Center on the evening of Nov 18 for those participating in AAR/SBL; we may also be able to offer a shuttle from Denver airport and/or Colorado Springs airport on Nov 16. All participants must arrange for their own travel otherwise.
This invitation is being sent to past participants and associates of the NGHN. Please share with any others who might be interested, including doctoral students.
We look forward to seeing you in Colorado in November!
Best,
Pam Reaves, Colorado College
