David Opderbeck’s E-Mail Hacked and Used for Scam

David Opderbeck’s E-Mail Hacked and Used for Scam

Unfortunately it seems that David Opderbeck’s e-mail account has been hacked and used to send a scam message to those in his address book. Either that or he really is in trouble and just happened to use the exact same words in his plea for help that have been used in scam messages in the past.

Here’s the text of the message:

I’m writing this with tears in my eyes. I came down here to London, United
Kingdom for a short vacation unfortunately I was mugged at the park of the
hotel where I stayed, all cash, credit card and cell phone were stolen off me
but luckily for me I still have my passport with me.

I have been to the embassy and the Police here but they’re not helping issues
at all and my flight leaves in few hours from now but I’m having problems
settling the hotel bills and the hotel manager won’t let me leave until I
settle the bills.

I need urgent help.I’m freaked out at the moment.

Presumably the scammer who sent it didn’t know that London is not a place you “come down to” from New Jersey.
