Falling Angels and Ringing Cellphones in Humorous Videos around the Blogosphere

I was rather struck by the seemingly reciprocal connection between a post at Remnant of Giants, examining an interpretation of the Genesis story about sons of God and daughters of men which placed the blame on those alluring human females, and a post at Clayboy highlighting an advertisement in which a particular body spray causes female angels to drop like flies (and cast down their halos) around a man who wears it.

And to the extent that Doug wanted this to become a meme about videos/commercials reflecting cultural trends in views of religion, what better one can I offer than the one below (shared by Jim West, Joel Watts, and Jonathan Robinson) about the consequences of not muting your cell phone in church?

But I wonโ€™t spoil the light-heartedness of this post by offering a serious reflection on how subjects that in the past have been incredibly solemn โ€“ from giving to church to going to hell โ€“ are skewered and made the subject of humor in our time.

Also on a note related to the theme(s) of this post, Jim West blogged about a priest answering his cell phone during mass, which with the proper symbolic interpretation has all the makings of a sacrament for this generation.

And finally, Jim Linville has a contest that calls upon participants to create Jim West LOLcat.

What a fun time to be browsing the biblioblogs!
