What Languages Would You Like To Learn?

Having previously started a meme featuring languages that a blogger has learned or tried to learn, I thought I’d pick up on Rod’s suggestion of a new meme – which languages you would like to learn.

For me, the list would include at least the following:

Korean – because then I could understand what Charlotte said on LOST when they didn’t provide subtitles.

Latin – because every academic ought to know Latin (and because of LOST).

Swahili – because I have friends who live and work in Tanzania and its vicinity and would love to visit them sometime.

Karen – because there are quite a number of Karen-speaking refugees from Burma in Indianapolis.

Tagalog – so that I can say something to the person I talk to when I call the AT&T; help line in their own language.

Basque – just because (if you’re a geek you’ll already know why Basque is fascinating, and if you aren’t then you’ve already stopped reading).

Klingon – so that I can hold my head up high among Star Trek fans.

Ethiopic – 1 Enoch, ’nuff said.

Rod’s idea also included languages that we’d like to “relearn” or improve our knowledge of, but I think I’ll save that for a separate meme/post. But thanks to Danut Manastireanu, I can share a video about a language I should work on unlearning:
