Luther on Revelation (and more)

Luther on Revelation (and more)

Internet Monk posted today about a Bible youโ€™d never find at your local Christian bookstore: Lutherโ€™s Bible, with several books relegated to a secondary, questionable status, and prefaces indicating his rationale.

We discussed this in my class on Revelation, and what Luther had to say about Revelation got quoted. My favorite part was also the favorite of at least one student, but for some reason it doesnโ€™t get quoted in the excerpt at Internet Monk, so I thought Iโ€™d share it. Luther wrote:

[T]hey are supposed to be blessed who keep what is written in this book; and yet no one knows what that is, to say nothing of keeping it.

Luther also noted the great pains the author of Revelation takes to emphasize how trustworthy his book is, which to Luther seemed suspicious rather than reassuring.
