I found this little gem from a fellow MRFF individual. It’s not just propaganda. It’s actually an official military training manual – FM 30-40Handbook on Soviet Ground Forces – from 1975, at the height of the Cold War (which isn’t so far removed in historical retrospection). The Soviets at that time had an officer embedded to indoctrinate, report, and control the political leanings and influence of individuals within every company-sized element. Is it really so different from what the dominionists… Read more

This is a repost from my July 10 blog. It no longer works so here it is again.   I’m sure many of you are now aware that there was a press conference yesterday. It was filled with lies, half-truths, and sold to the American public as an attempt to sway them into believing that Christians are under attack. You can read it here. These are two of the men pushing this legislation: General Boykin   Congressman Fleming  The man on… Read more

I woke up this morning to find this in my inbox from an old friend, Wes, whom I’ve known since Elementary school: Just wanted to take the time and thank you for being an atheist that doesn’t feel the need to bash religion on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. Have a friend who I am considering deleting from Facebook for the mere fact that she feels the need to spread hate through being an atheist – and you and… Read more

At  11:48 EST this morning I was alerted by MRFF clients of a nativity scene that had been placed aboard Shaw Air Force Base, next to Memorial Lake. This in and of itself is not a problem. However, it was not within the vicinity of any chapel and was not part of a scene designed to accommodate all religious preferences, or no preferences, aboard the base. It was very sectarian in nature and a direct violation of the US Constitution… Read more

I feel conflicted Every Veteran’s Day weekend there are guilt-stricken Americans “supporting the troops” the only way they know how: defending our service members and their honorable mythic, stoic heroes of might and justice, who undergo herculean tasks under fire in the defense of liberty, truth, etc. from the verbal assaults of anyone who would suggest they are anything other than such. They doth protest too much, methinks. Once upon a time, we were a nation unified. We bore the… Read more

He can’t take his honey from the hundred-acre wood to the United States without checking it. Honeygate? The whole point of honeygate, as it is now being called, was to point out the despoilment of our liberties. The voluntary despoilment. We are steadily giving up liberty for safety. Of course this was the perfect opportunity for some internet warriors to attack Dawkins. I’m not particularly interested in defending Dawkins as I do not think he needs my help nor do… Read more

The Christian Left If you have never heard of the Christian Left they are an organization of liberal and progressive Christians. They are Christians who are also secularists (sound familiar). They are our allies that believe the separation of church and state is a GOOD thing.  Mark Sandlin a Presbyterian minister and co-founder of the Christian Left is joining forces with       Jerry DeWitt, the Evangelical minister-turned atheist. Just like what it sounds they are speaking about “common ground” and… Read more

I <3 Pizza! Seriously, it is my favorite food on the planet! I prefer my “homemade” pizza to anything I can order or buy in the store. I don’t actually make anything from scratch so it’s technically not home made. But here goes: Step 1) Get a Pizza Stone (order through pampered chef) Ingredients Boboli Pizza Crust (Mama Rosa’s pictured) Hormel Turkey Pepperoni Turkey Meatballs Shredded Mozzarella Cheese Olive Oil Basil Fresh Garlic (or garlic powder) Oregano Classico Tomato Basil… Read more

I suppose I really have to go there Apparently there is a great amount of confusion concerning the difference between atheism and secularism. Well, I’ll help try and provide some education on the two. Recently, a guest blogger (Sarah Jones) on Libby Anne’s “Love, Joy, Feminism” here on Patheos blogged about why she is not a secular activist even though she works for Americans United for the Separation of Church and State. First things first – she is equivocating. It… Read more
