Good News Club Flyer Shockingly Doesn’t Mention Threats of Hell

Good News Club Flyer Shockingly Doesn’t Mention Threats of Hell October 7, 2016

Noticing a trend here?  Thanks to a tweet from Jodie Westin of Crofton, MD (@semperscarlet), I came across this Good News Club introductory flyer…

What a great looking club!  Free games, music, snacks and prizes for our kids. Sounds awesome! And on top of that, my kids will learn character traits like courage, truthfulness, discipline, love, patience, kindness, respect and forgiveness? WOWIE WOW!! It doesn’t get any better than this!

Sound too good to be true? It is. The Good News Club once again shows us how deceitful they are through this benign-looking flyer.  We see the what, where, who, and when.  What we don’t see is the “how,” except for “Kids will look at the lives & events of people in the Bible.”

That’s not really the “how” at all, is it?  What we know from Good News Club training videos, training materials, and exposés like Katherine Stewart’s book and leaked YouTube videos, is that the “how” is through threats and psychological abuse.  The Good News Club teaches kids that they’re inherently flawed sinners deserving of death and “separation” from God, parents, and loved ones for eternity.  And the only way to prevent that is to commit yourself to Jesus Christ.  It’s the standard domestic abuse tactic — You’re nothing without me. No one else will want you so you can never leave.  If you do, you’ll suffer.

Sounds like a safe, healthy environment for kids in grades K-5.  So go ahead, sign your kids up, so that a bunch of people who think every word of the Bible is literally true can scare the shit out of your children and use them as pawns to grow their church congregations.  Hey, but it’s free child care and the brownies are delicious!
