Ladies, why are you religious?

Ladies, why are you religious? September 23, 2020

Here’s an odd thing, according to research, women are more likely to be believers than men –

Yet, apart from under Sikhism and Judaism perhaps, the female sex gets a raw deal. The major faiths all treat women much worse than men so, if anything, fewer women should sign up to them.

Let’s look at some of the facts.

If you are a female Catholic, there are several life-altering things that you are not allowed to do. You can’t use contraception to control your fertility, you can’t become a priest, let alone a Bishop or the Pope! The current canon law and the Catechism of the Catholic Church, is that: “Only a baptized man (In Latin, vir) validly receives sacred ordination.”   And you can’t marry a priest. Your value is as a baby making machine.

If you are a female Muslim, your options are even more restricted. Your dress is determined for you: you must at least cover your hair and, depending on your location, may be required to wear an all-enveloping Burqah. In Sharia courts, your word only counts for half that of a man and, in Islamic theocracies you may not be allowed out unless accompanied by a man. Your status is similar to a pet dog, which can be given away by its owner. You won’t be educated and, no matter how obedient you are, you will not even be allowed into the mosque with the men!

Meanwhile, Islamic men get promised that, if they die virtuously, they will get 72 virgin girls to play with in paradise! No such perks for females.

Both Christianity and Islam put the responsibility for sexual acts solely onto women and do not approve of pre-marital sex, divorce or abortion.

This is before we delve into history. For example, according to the Bible, it’s appropriate to stone adulterous wives to death (not adulterous husbands), to offer daughters to sleep with a visiting man and to take virgin girls as sex slaves after you’ve killed their men in a conquest! Religions were obviously created for men, by men.

So, if you are a woman, when you join a major religion, you are agreeing to be a second class citizen and to accept misogyny!
Why would you do that?
