Today, I completed a Friendship Marathon: Shopping for clothes for Allume with one friend: Seeing Nadia Bolz-Weber speak with the mom of my daughter’s new BFF: It’s been a lovely day.  I had fro-yo twice.  I found a new trendy thrift store.  I talked about books, theology, tattoos, and motherhood.  Today was pretty much an extrovert’s dream. I’m taking these last thirty minutes before Saturday shifts to Sunday to list as many random thoughts of the day on friendship as... Read more

So, funny story.  Since my laptop broke last week  I haven’t been able to write during the day. Everyday, I have to wait for my husband to get home so I can use his laptop and last night when he came home I was DEAD ON MY FEET.  So he got home around 7, and I went to bed but set my alarm so it could wake me up at 10pm so that I could write yesterday’s post in time... Read more

What’s a project without lots of book? A failure before it starts I would say! Here are the books I will reference and/or review on the blog this month. Jen Hatmaker is funny, insightful, and energizing with her new book, “For The Love”,  all about loving people well. I can’t wait to read the part of leggings as pants. Can I tell y’all a secret? I didn’t think I’d love this book as much as I do. But, I’m so... Read more

In Part One, I introduced the book, “Found” by Micha Boyett. I said reading it was like Jesus inviting me to sit next to him and receive the wisdom I’d need for the hard months to come. It’s one of several books that have shaped this Friendship Project.  If you haven’t read it, I suggest you get it immediately. It’s beautifully written, full of wisdom and elegant story-telling. I read it for “work” as a Red Couch Contributor, so I... Read more

My husband has been sick for a few days.  In fact, I canceled a girls’ night in to tend to him.  Well, it came to a head for him yesterday.  He had a fever and chills at the church office while writing his sermon.  When he came home at 9, he went back to bed and I laid on the couch because I realized I was experiencing the very same symptoms he was complaining about days ago  That’s right, he... Read more

Hey Friends, So, I had today’s post all written out about the two Benedictine vows that inspired this series, and then my laptop crashed. And burned.  All of my writing is gone and it’s now a lovely Apple paperweight.  My husband is now sick in the next room, but when I called him at the church office, he rushed home (after writing his sermon and homework notes for the small groups) to let me try to recapture the post on... Read more

Day Two of my Friendship Pr0ject. I was going to write on the Benedictine Vows and how they inspired this series, but when I got home from work today to finish editing that post- it was gone.  Poof.  I have no idea where it went.  I did have my guidelines for the series ready for y’all so….here we go. These are the “rules’ of my project, if you will.  I’ve intentionally chosen them because they will stretch me, point me... Read more

It’s been quiet around here because I’ve been busy settling in to our new school routine, fixing a few bugs with the new site (it’s almost ready), getting ready to go to Allume (thank y’all so much for your support in ordering “Shalom In The City” t-shirts!  I’m $400 away from my goal; almost everything has been purchased for my trip)  and planning this amazing new 31 days series: The Friendship Project. Every Oct. I like to link up with... Read more
