I’m linking up with one of my favorite communities, The Five Minute Friday Link Up at Lisa-Jo Baker’s site. No over-editing. No over-thinking.  We just write for five minutes for the pure joy of writing.  Awesomely liberating! Today’s word prompt was “After” Here’s my best five minutes.   I hope you like it.       Standing in line at Starbucks, exhausted from dropping my husband off at the airport for a 6am flight and waiting for my tall iced... Read more

Today my friend said I looked stylish with my white top, capri jeans, and green scarf.  I told her, “The sun’s out!  My spring wardrobe is much cuter than my winter.”  It’s true. And sad.  But, fun too.   I really think we’ve turned a corner here in New England.  Warmer days, park play-dates, and bike rides with my Beautiful Jesus Spotify Playlist blasting are in my near future. Hopefully.Today, I’m linking up with Leigh over at Hopefully Leigh for her monthly “What I’m into”... Read more

Yesterday I got a tattoo (yay) isn’t it pretty?: Yes,  that is an Instagram picture. If you follow me on Facebook, you’d know that I joined this week and I’m all types of giddy to use my new app.  I know, I  know, I’m egregiously behind the times.  Can I recoup whatever I lost in cool points for being a late adopter with having a super pretty, super spiritual tattoo?  No?  Well, it was worth a try… Here are my five favorite... Read more

Yesterday’s post was heavy, so in the interest of levity and laughing and all things silly, I’m linking up Mawah and Jake to “Finish the Sentence”.   1: If calories didn’t count…I would eat brownies and ice cream for dessert every single night. Oh the variations of brownies å la mode I’d enjoy!  Cheesecake brownies and chocolate….caramel nut brownies and dolce de leche…chocolate chuck brownies and Madagascar vanilla bean…this is just too painful to think about while I’m trying to... Read more

TRIGGER WARNING: Rape, Abuse This past week was the first time I let myself explore the Steubenville rape case.  I say, “let” because the whole thing has “trigger” written all over it.  As a mother of boys this case triggers fear and anxiety.  As a woman this case triggers outrage and repulsion.  As a sexual abuse survivor this case triggers shame and self-hatred. Not ready to face the firing squad of these triggers, I avoided the headlines and newscasts until... Read more

This afternoon I sat in my minivan and had an ugly cry.  Several church plant related issues coalesced into a crashing wave of frustration and doubt.Did God really call us to do this?Where is this vibrant community He gave us vision for?Did we make the right choice for our family? These questions and more tumbled out of my mouth and met my tears on my steering  wheel this cold, spring afternoon. I may have spent hours parked on the curb outside... Read more

As soon as I read the prompt, ‘Remember” this scene from, “The Lion King” popped into my head.  I watched it and was inspired to write  today’s Five Minute Friday post on my struggle to remember my God-given identity.  I hope you enjoy, “Remember Who You Are”. GO Remember Who You Are I try to remember, I do.  I know all the verses—true they are not “hidden in my” heart but they’re stored in my mind and recorded in my... Read more

Today I read a hilarious post at Rage Against The Minivan on holidays. Kristen’s candid storytelling and super smart sarcasm left me breathless from belly laughs and nodding my head emphatically.  Being a mom of school-aged kids in this hyper holiday atmosphere is cray-cray.  This school year alone, I made two sets of 100 days projects.  Which isn’t as simple as mod-podging 100 little items to a hat (oh I wish), but sitting with each child, coming up with an idea, and... Read more
