Another hope I have for this blog is to share my love of all things Brazilian and, more broadly, Portuguese. Every Sunday I will try to share some music from Brazil with you. Though the posts are called Sunday Samba, I will share all kinds of music, from Forró to Música sertaneja to Fado. In that spirit, my selection for this week is a beautiful song performed by the great Elis Regina about the simple faith of a caipira (country person) and their devotion to Our Lady of Aparecida (more about her later). Enjoy. For an English translation and explanation of the lyrics click here.
