The money changers were more than just a commercialization of the house of God–they were set up in the only area of the temple open to non-Jews. The commercial activity of the temple courtyard was then a disregard for the worship of God by gentiles. How do our own actions to fulfill the needs of insiders prevent the worship of outsiders?

Sit and imagine Christ coming to the Christian communities of today. Whose tables would he overturn? Who would he drive out with a whip?
