Indian lawmaker wants ghostly government building exorcised

Indian lawmaker wants ghostly government building exorcised February 24, 2018

BJP MLA Habibur Rehman, above, told Indian media this week that he has asked to Rajasthan’s Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje to conduct religious ceremonies to rid the state’s secretariat building of ‘negative energies and evil souls’.
Rehman, according to this report, is one of a number of lawmakers who believe that the building is haunted, and blame ghosts for  the  recent untimely deaths of two fellow MLAs.

He said the land on which the secretariat stands had once accommodated a burial ground and crematorium, and this explained why “evil souls” are occupying the building.
Kalulal Gurjar, the chief whip confirmed fears among members that the secretariat building is haunted.
Nathdwara MLA Kalyan Singh passed away on Wednesday while Kirti Kumari from Mandalgarh passed away last year after suffering from swine flu.
The secretariat building was constructed in 2001 and accommodates a crematorium in its vicinity.
Gurjar said that he too has requested the Chief Minister to perform “yagya” and a religious ceremony in the building to rid it of “evil spirits”. When the ceremonies will be performed depends on the Chief Minister and the Assembly Speaker.
This report states that a priest was spotted performing rituals near the assembly’s entrance on Thursday and that lawmakers were asking for a special debate to discuss the ghosts.
A priest conducts a ‘purification’ ritual outside the ‘haunted’ government building.
The lawmakers believe that the House never retains its maximum strength of 200 members for long because “evil spirits” causes members to resign, die, or be sent to jail. BSP MLA B L Kushwah was jailed for murder a couple of years ago, and, in the last assembly, Congress MLAs Mahipal Maderna, Malkhan Singh Bishnoi and Babu Lal Nagar were jailed on charges ranging from murder to rape.
Rahman said:

The land over which the new building has been built was earlier used as a graveyard or for cremation and a garbage ground where god knows what all used to be dumped. People must have buried bodies of children too here. Evil spirits usually roam around such places.

Government chief whip Kalu Lal Gurjar said:

It’s true this assembly building has not had a full strength of 200 members for long. The untimely deaths of MLAs Chouhan and Kumari have worried us and we cannot help but think about the graveyard/cremation ground that was here. I believe that spirits can do bad. We spoke to the CM and she has assured us to do something about it.

The only ghosts inhabiting this Secretariat building are all these corrupt, criminal politicians themselves.

IMHO, one of the most incredible things about homo sapiens, the thing that has made us different to any other species on the planet and has accelerated our rise to the top of the pile, is our imagination – our creativity. It’s what led to language, writing, arithmetic, art and, ultimately, this website. It’s why we can conceive of a way to fly to the moon. And why we can also imagine there’s some invisible sky fairy who magically made everything and wants us to suffer for eternity us if we don’t do exactly what he says. So, our imagination is at the very heart of what makes us both the best and worst. Ghosts? Turn the lights out and suddenly your imagination can run riot. But that’s all it is – imagination.

Excellently put Agent Cormac. That’s what all Gods are works of human imagination. Its a pity that majority of the people on this planet cannot see this simple fact.
