Homeopathy and homosexuality: there are pills to cure your ills

At the very end of a lengthy expose of faith-based gay cures offered in Israel, May Kaduri, writing for YNet News, reveals she was offered pills to cure her ‘attaction to women’ by homeopath David Grushko, who also uses homoeopathy to cure autism.

After telling the homeopath that she was sexually attracted to females, Grushko

Simply offered me homeopathic pills, ‘which will help you develop more feminine traits so that your sexual attraction will be towards boys and not girls.’

Did it help anyone? ‘Yes, they have changed, he says.

On his autism cure site, Grushko says:

Homeopathy is a well established therapy, which is successfully used for many years  and it has the ability to respond to every person, of all age groups.

Homeopathy does wonders especially in the field of autism.  An early treatment – would benefit a great deal to your child’s progress.

Yet according to a Smithsonian report published in 1015, no fewer than 1,800 studies have shown that homeopathy is useless.

The alternative treatment that relies on super-diluted substances and the principle of “like cures like” is completely ineffective.

Kaduri’s piece, though, concentrates on the religious aspect of reparative therapies offered to gay people in Israel, and makes for depressing reading.

Among the 20 religious and ultra-Orthodox therapists we approached, only one categorically refused to perform conversion therapy. On the contrary, many boasted about their “great success rate” with patients who moved on, got married and established a kosher Jewish home in Israel; what ensues afterwards is no longer their concern.

But sexual conversion therapy is not an obscure activity taking place on the black market. Last week, a new organization — the Movement for Strengthening Family Values, launched a campaign against the LGBT community. The organization is of course ultra-Orthodox, a sector with particularly high rates of therapists who believe that sexual orientation can be changed through treatment.

According to a leaflet published by this cockamamie outfit:

Israeli society is loyal to traditional Jewish values [but] is under fierce attack and victim to brainwashing from the LGBTQ community [which] engages in media terror against those who don’t walk ‘the pride way’, and labels them as dark enemies of progress.

Those who only several years ago were outcasts, came together and created massive changes regarding their community. Their struggle is aggressive, and they force their whole world of values, language and behaviour on all of society.

Campaign leaders said they are not going against people’s right to live their lives, but rather against:

Those who made their sexual preferences their central identity theme.

The pamphlet further said that lesbian women and gay men can overcome their sexual preferences and change it:

When a man is really hungry and is shown something tasty, he has a strong passion to eat. But, once this man is made clear that there’s poison in this food, that will cause his immediate death, the passion and hunger goes away and is replaced with repolse [sic] and rejections.

There was also mention of “conversion therapy”:

From a therapeutic point of view, it’s clear that in many cases, a person’s tendencies can be influenced. Unfortunately, because of the gay struggle, conversion therapy has been labeled as wrong, and therapists who perform these treatments feel threatened. There is an atmosphere of silencing, and only research portraying one side is addressed.

Kaduri’s article says that in Israel, attempts to stop conversion therapies offered by quacks and religious organisations:

Have failed miserably. During her time as health minister, MK Yael German (Yesh Atid) tried to deal with the issue and a statement published by the ministry warned the public about these treatments, in part because ‘there is even evidence of possible harm’. Today, with ultra-Orthodox MK Yaakov Litzman as deputy (and acting) health minister, it seems that the ministry has no interest in preventing conversion therapy, and the market is flourishing.

It appears this ignorant idiot is blinded by his bigotry and ignores or doesn’t understand all the rigorous scientific studies, the double blind and peer reviewed tests that conclude Homoeopathy “works” only as a placebo and that you can’t cure something like homosexuality because it isn’t an illness.

  • (((J_Enigma32)))

Pseudoscience quackery and bullshit bigotry. What an intersection to stake your claim at.

Do the pills result in homeosexuality, infinitesimal amounts of sex?

  • Freodin

As far as I know, homeopathy is based on the principle “similia similibus curentur” – ailments are cured by substances that cause similar symptoms in healthy individuals.
I really would love to know what substance they use that induce homosexuality in heterosexual people. Would be interesting to test that.

But I guess this guy is just a quack’s quack… he cannot even get the pseudoscience of homeopathy right.

  • Broga

Shame that some desperate people will fall victim to this quackery. There is money in it for the charlatans.

  • Barry Duke

was looking for a photo of this quack this morning, and found
one on his Facebook page. Curiously, when I went back to grab it, his
page had disappeared, which suggests he took a lot of flak.

  • Vanity Unfair

It must work. The Royal Family uses it- except when they’re ill of course.

  • barriejohn

Could this be him? There are certainly videos about the “homoeopathic treatment” of autism.

“The truth about vaccines” and “Cancer can be cured”, as well. Quelle surprise!

  • Barry Duke

    Yep, that’s the guy.

Wow. They have been pounding the pseudoscience beat for a lot longer than I thought.

    Stop finding fault. Hahahahaha!!!!!
