Riches To Rags…A Love Story

Riches To Rags…A Love Story December 24, 2020

God’s love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might live through him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Beloved, since God loved us so much, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God lives in us, and his love is perfected in us.-1 John 4:9-12 NRSV

Riches To Rags

Here is the second person of the Trinity who has unknown amounts of beings worshipping Him in Heaven, there is no sin in his presence, but what does He do?

He fulfills numerous Old Testament prophecies by being born to a virgin in a little known city named Bethlehem.  Not only that but when He was born he was placed in a manger.  We sing about this at Christmas, but do you know what a manger is?  It is literally a feeding trough for livestock!

Prophecies Fulfilled By Christ

Jesus fulfilled several prophecies that were laid out in the Old Testament.  Conservative estimates put the number at 300, with some estimates as high as 456.  Isaiah 7:14 says that the Messiah would be born of a virgin.  This is fulfilled in Matthew chapter 1 and Luke chapter 1.  Zechariah 9:9 says that the messiah will enter Jerusalem in a Donkey.  This is fulfilled in Matthew 21, Luke 19, and John 12.  Micah 5:2 says that he would be bornin Bethlehem.  This is fulfilled in Matthew 2 and Luke 2.  Zechariah 11:12-13 say that the Messiah will be betrayed for 30 pieces of silver.  This is fulfilled in Matthew 26:15

This is obviously just a small sampling.  According to Josh McDowell, the odds of Jesus fulfilling only eight of the prophecies laid out in the Old Testament is 10 to the 17th power, or 1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000.  Yet he fulfilled them all.

Jesus Loves You And The Riches To Rags Story Is For You

Jesus came from Heaven, with great humility and love, to show us the way to his Heavenly home.  What love He indeed has for us!  I challenge you today to be humble just as Christ was humble.

You can do this by doing a good deed, or listening to the concerns of another.  More importantly understand the love He has for you, and accept Him for who he is.  He loved you, and gave everything including His life so you can have the possibility of being in Heaven with Him.  Share this riches to rags story with someone today.  It is truly the greatest gift that we can receive.
