Today I am blessed to turn 41 years of age. When I was in high school I thought that people my age were old. Funny how times change, and how wrong I was back then. It is all a matter of perspective. Though this year has been tough for many reasons, it has also been full of opportunities and blessings. On my birthday I thought I would reflect on some of those.
Last Year’s Birthday
Like many of you, last year’s birthday I was a bit different. The pandemic had not fully taken hold and life was somewhat normal. I was working at a major financial institution, making a decent living, and helping clients plan for their future.
A couple months later my four children were out of school prematurely and still have not returned. My wife and I made the decision that I would stay home and assist with schooling since they were doing everything virtually.
This would also allow me do a few more things ministry wise. It would let me do more writing, podcast and Youtube interviews, and radio interviews. Best of all it allowed me to spend more time with my kids. Many don’t realize this, but the banking business can have strange hours and many times I would leave home at 7:00am and come back at late as 7:30pm. There were also a lot of Saturdays involved and I missed many events in my children’s lives. This extra time with them has been a very real blessing.
More Projects
Since I have had more time to schedule interviews my podcast has really grown. The name of my podcast is “Know The Faith. Defend The Faith” and I have been honored to have many guests I would not have been able to have otherwise. Well known, and some not so well known, evangelists and apologists come on to give us a better understanding of the faith and how we can share it. Guests have included Scott Hahn, Gary Michuta, Steve Ray, and many more.
I recently started a radio show on Elevation Radio Network that airs once per week on Wednesday. The show is titled “Coffee and a Book” and I interview Christian authors about their faith and work. It has been fun speaking with other writers and getting to know them a little better.
Speaking of recently, I am a new addition Wednesday nights on Deeper Truth Radio. So far we have had two shows and have had a lot of fun. The show is titled “The William Hemsworth Show” and I plan on talking about the early church fathers and what we can learn from them. Last week discussed St. Polycarp and the show is part of Deeper Truth Catholics.
