According to Llewellyn’s Book of Correspondences (Kynes, 2018) hematite is for anxiety, balance, calming, clarity, focus, confidence, courage, grounding, personal growth, happiness, healing, boundaries, the mind, avoidance of negativity, power, problems, protection, mental purification, the senses, stability, strength, stress, support, and willpower to name a few.
When looking up obsidian the book states relieving aggression, balance, clarity, connections, concentration, healing the subconscious, creativity, emotions, energy, fear management, grounding, growth, luck, magic, manifestation. Obstacles, peace, power, spirituality, support, and transformation. (Kynes, 2018).
Researching pyrite, the book lists concentration/focus, divination, emotions, energy, luck, memories, the mind, protection, psychic abilities, relationships, skills, spirituality, strength, success/wealth, and willpower as correspondences. (Kynes, 2018).
And finally, the book states that labradorite is for animals, awareness, balance of the aura,, clarity, confidence, connections, courage, destiny, dream work, energy, personal growth, inspiration, intuition, vitality, love, magic, mindfulness, motivation, self-work, the senses, contacting spirits, stress, success, transformation, visions, and wisdom. (Kynes, 2018)
Why are these important? Theses and many others are personal negative issues I deal with on a daily basis. I wear two beaded bracelets on each wrist, hematite and pyrite on my right arm and the black obsidian and grey labradorite on my left arm. Having dealt with mental illness at an early age, I have found that stones along with my prescription medication, as well as calming teas such as mint, chamomile, or lavender help to sooth my soul.
I was diagnosed as schizophrenic, dissociative identity disorder, OCD, anxiety, and depression. Since becoming an adult I’ve also been diagnosed with PTSD. With a great therapist, a good psychiatrist, my medication, and self-care I am able to keep many mental illness issues at bay.
I am one with nature so when I feel off I generally try to find a nice walk in the park near my home, a warm cup of tea and the healing energies of my crystals grounds me and alleviates the doom in my head. When I am really bad I venture out to my friend’s house. They live on a twenty acre property that is completely surrounded by trees and beautiful earth. Janet will sit with me to talk to clear my mind and she allows me to journey out into the surroundings.
The discussion that needs to be had is that mental illness is real and that it must take multiple aspects to heal from it. People would need to feel safe talking about mental health. Too often people will tell the tormented that it’s all in their head and that if they wanted to be healed they should just think positively. I wish I could just think positive thoughts to make myself better but it doesn’t work that way. It takes so much to get through mental illness situations.
On a good day, mental illness for me, is bad thoughts or seeing/hearing things that I cannot escape. On a bad day, its me afraid to leave my bed or being terrified that I may hurt myself and/or others. For many that suffer, suicide is the best way out. We believe that the world would be a better place without us. That our loved ones would be better off without our issues.
We miss out on so many things due to our mental issues. Canceled events with family and friends, poor school grades, loss days at work, etc. So if you know or are someone that deals with mental illness please know that there is a friend you can turn to. I will always find time for fellow sufferers. As a small gesture there is also a new option to talk to someone: 988 is a way to text or call…just like 911. The representatives are schooled in mental health welfare and are on call 24/7.
