September Shoutout

Dear Patheos Friends: September blessings are upon us! Here in Texas, the weather has not determined if it is summer or fall. Thank you for all the feedback- appreciate each one and grateful that the church collective is fully awake! This month we all came together to reflect on the atrocities of September 11. Most of us, remember where we were and what we were doing on that day twenty-three years ago. Our family was in our homeschool room learning, when the news broke. We will always remember with appreciation all the precious families of 9/11 and grateful for all our first responders, law enforcement, our military, national, state and local leaders. Let us continue to pray for our nation that God bless America!

Immigrants

That brings me to the focus of this post- our nation, our culture and us as a people of this great nation. We are seeing and experiencing some unacceptable trends in our nation. Last week, a dear family friend that lives in Springfield, Ohio called to talk and ask for prayer. Their family friendly city had been tossed to the limelight as unwelcoming towards Haitians immigrants. And that was not the case. She shared how cohesive their community is; welcoming all people to schools, churches and various places and events.

Election Season

We know during election season, we see things out of the ordinary. However, what we are seeing in this cycle of a major election year is unprecedented from both sides. Hatred, darkness and disdain has become acceptable; all in the name of election. As a nation, we no longer know how to have civil discourse. We have lost the art of respectful disagreement. We now see it as acceptable to recruit friends, families, colleagues or anyone that would hop on the hatred wagon to hate others. This is the lowest of our humanity. We look through history and see that nothing good ever came out of making hatred ok in any culture. Moreso, hatred is not acceptable before a God who holds all humans and all things in His mighty hands. The hope for the church collective is that, God will act when His people call upon Him!

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land” – 2 Chronicles 7:14

History Stands

Seems we have forgotten that to our Native American friends and families, we are all immigrants. As history stands, long before Christopher Columbus discovered the Americas, our Native American friends and families owned this land we all now call home (USA). Since we are all immigrants, let’s stop the hatred rhetoric towards any person, people group or community. Everyone is welcome here!

Time For Check-Up

Cardiologists are known for their expertise in heart care. They ensure their patients hearts and blood vessels are in a healthy state. Looks like we have a heart problem in our culture. Researchers have shown the correlation of hatred and anger with unforgiveness that leads to many health problems.  Anyone that finds it acceptable to hate others and recruit others to do the same, needs a heart check. Please visit with a spiritual advisor or a therapist to get to the root of that hatred; it’s time for a check-up. It is not ok, carrying hatred as a badge of honor and recruiting others to do the same, no matter who you are. The Bible shows us the best way to live with Agape love. The church collective-let’s be known for our love. America- let’s be known for our love! The God kind of love always overcomes hatred or evil!
