Our ancestors have been as much rowdy as gentile, artistic as bawdy. If we were all present in one place at one time, the stories we could tell would be epic. Lammas may reach back into Pagan European Harvest rituals and clearly the word “Lughnasadh” has been traced to much older traditions. It was during the beginning of August that the grain from the fields would start to be harvested. The first bread that was made from the harvest was treated with special care. It was blessed and often decorated as sympathetic magic to help the rest of the harvest continue to be prosperous and bountiful. Read more
Picture this – A grove, deep in the woods, lit by a raging bonfire. The deep thump of a drum calls to the witches hidden in the darkness. Cloaked figures come forward from the shadows and create a circle, swaying in time with the rhythm.
