Life is a Delicate Dance

Who we step onto the dance floor with will determine the outcome of the rest of our lives.

Setting Priorities

When we keep our eyes on Jesus, keep our hearts full of His word, and dance humbly beside Him, we get opportunities to act on God’s calling in our lives.

Identifying what is most important to us and organizing our thoughts and actions, accordingly, will allow God to work in and through us.

God’s Call to  the Dance Floor

Proverbs 31:8-9 (ESV):

Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute.  Open your mouth, judge righteously, and defend the rights of the poor and needy.

Isaiah 1:17 (ESV):

Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.

Micah 6:8 (ESV):

He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

God’s call on our lives as Christians seems simple enough. The dance through life standing up for the needy, defending the oppressed, seeking and doing justice, loving kindness, and walking humbly with God are all graceful dance moves.

God created us to be relational beings. When we act on God’s calling and live to His standards, we instinctively become the “positive peer pressure” our friends and family so desperately need to keep them on track in following God around the dance floor.

The Enemy Waits in the Wings

Even though, God’s call may seem easy, the enemy is close at hand doing all he can to make us stumble and look like a fool on God’s dance floor. He sends Doubt to do his dirty work.

How we respond is up to us.

When we allow negative peer pressure to influence us about God, Doubt makes its debut. She twirls around the dance floor pressuring us to “fit in” which compromises our faith.

Our desire for worldly acceptance clashes with God’s call on our lives. She tries to get us in step with the dance moves of this world. If she can do that, she wins. Don’t let her win.

Take Away

When we allow Jesus to lead, our lives are no longer our own. We give up our selfish desires and look to Him for guidance and direction. Grace is our choreographer.

When we immerse ourselves in His Word and keep our eyes on Him, our dance opportunities are endless.

When Holy Spirit invites you to the dance floor, I hope you dance with confidence knowing all eyes are on Him.
