Facing the Mirror

Last night was my first NFP class as I embark on my mission to become a Billings Ovulation Method instructor. I learned how much I do not know.

I also wondered how you teach NFP to a person using hormonal contraception. I asked the instructors and they said that they still have the woman chart for 2 weeks anyway just so they get the idea.

NOW, IF a woman is using hormonal contraception, her chart SHOULD not change because ovulation should not occur. HOWEVER, the instructors said that they often seen a birth controlling woman OVULATING on her chart. HMMM. And if the woman had sex during the time she is ovulating AND she is not pregnant, what do we think happened to the baby?

Once again, this completely shows that ALL hormonal contraception work three ways: 1)Prevent Ovulation 2) Thicken cervical mucous (which acts as a spermicide so to speak) and 3)Keep the uterine lining thin so the newly conceived human being cannot latch on and the body thus aborts it.

So I asked if we could look at a woman’s chart and say “Wow, it looks like hormonal contraception aborted your baby.” But the instructors said, “NOPE!” We cannot do that. We have to just explain to them that one of the mechanisms for hbc is to abort and leave it at that.

And there are pro-life Christians who use hbc! I think we need to stop killing our own kids (HINT: FOCUS ON THE FAMILY, 98% Catholics) before we tell others not to kill.
