My Pictures of the Maronite Catholic Church in Austin

My Pictures of the Maronite Catholic Church in Austin

I just returned to AK from traveling all over Texas and Kansas so I will be posting on some of my experiences. I thought some of you at Vox Nova might enjoy.

I visited Our Lady’s Maronite Catholic Church in Austin, TX. To read up on my experience where I compare the Maronite liturgy to the Byzantine and Roman liturgies, you may click here.

The first picture is that of the curtain that separates the altar from the people. The main point behind the Eastern curtain and screen is to reference the Jewish Holy of Holies and the curtain that separated the Holy of Holies from the people. During Divine Liturgy (Mass) the curtain, screen is opened to reference the tearing of the Curtain at the moment of Jesus’ crucifixion; the new breaking from the Old.

The second and third pictures are the icon of Jesus. In the East, they always top their Churches with Jesus because he is literally the “head” of the Church.

The rest of my photos have my daughter or friend in them so I will not post those. But the garden in front of the Church was spectacular. It was lush, green, tropical and beautiful.

I recommend you check out Our Lady’s Maronite Church’s website since they have more photos and more details.
