Haiti, one of the poorest countries in this hemisphere, has been struck by a large earthquake (Magnitude 7.0) causing widespread devastation, including the collapse of a multi-story hospital, and filling the streets with rubble.
The thought of that place of many miseries being burdened by such devastation (and the inevitable, crushing grief of the coming hours and days) is almost too much to bear. May God comfort and be with the Haitians, and may He be merciful to us in the rich world for the ways we have failed them.
Lord, have mercy.
