What Does Kāp̄ar Mean For The OBBB & The Texas Flooding? 2025-07-06T20:21:29-04:00

The big news this week has been about the GOP passing President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill. Despite the concerns from both sides of the political aisle about the cost, the bill passed in both chambers as a reconciliation bill.

The only purpose of a reconciliation bill is to ensure a quicker passage through both chambers of Congress. Many consider the bill a transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich, who have put their hopes into temporary things and a temporary kingdom. That are in the bill is that it does the opposite of what most conservative bills are designed for:

The passage of the OBBB is further evidence that the GOP is no longer a conservative party and has abandoned all Christian values it once celebrated:  caring for the least of these, putting others first, not America or ourselves first.

God’s people are to speak out and condemn all forms of evil, not just the ones we disagree with or that don’t benefit us. Maga has forgotten that God’s people are supposed to be part of God’s reconciliation plan for the world; instead, they want to pursue a world domination plan just like this corrupt fallen world does (Isaiah 61:1-4, 2 Corinthians 5:18).

What Is Reconciliation

We live in a divided nation and world, not just politically as some want to believe, but spiritually and morally. This divide isn’t exclusive to one political party or country; it is a human problem that is part of the fall of the garden when creation chose their way and earthly greatness over God and His glory (Genesis 3:1-27).

It is prideful to think we are any better than another party or country; we all are fallen and need to be reconciled to God (Romans 3:23). Reconciliation is defined as “The action of being reconciled.”  God’s people are part of God’s plan to reconcile the creation to Himself.

That is why the Bible has a lot to say about reconciliation and the church’s purpose of restoring the relationship between God and the world ( Daniel 9:24, Acts 3:19, Hebrews 9:22; 12:14). Sin severed the relationship between God and the world (Isaiah 59:2, Colossians 1:21).

God’s people are part of His plan to help reconcile the creation to the Creator (Romans 5:10-11, 2 Corinthians 5:18-20). God reconciled us to Himself through Jesus to help repair the relationship with Himself (Acts 1:8, Romans 5:10, 2 Corinthians 5:18, Ephesians 1:3-10; 4:32, 1:20-22). The Apostle Paul remembered his Jewish education about our need for reconciliation.

kāp̄ar

The Torah explains how violent and evil the world became after the fall (Genesis 6:1-6). God first used Noah and the flood to try to reconcile the world to Himself (Genesis 6:9-9:17). As we know, even the great flood couldn’t purge the world of its sin and reconcile us to God.

The Hebrew word in the Old Testament for reconciliation is kāp̄ar, and it can also mean “Atonement, purge, forgive, pacify, pardon, cleanse, or put off,” depending on the context it is used in.

God chose Israel out of the world to be his people to help repair what was lost in the garden (Genesis 3:20-27; 12:1-3). Its God’s plan to use His people to reconcile this fallen world to Himself (Leviticus 8:15, Psalm 79:9, Isaiah 53:1-12, Daniel 9:24).  That is why Judaism places a lot of emphasis on reconciliation:

  1. Taking responsibility
  2. Seeking forgiveness
  3. Repairing the harm
  4. Humility and sacrifice

The New Testament begins with the arrival of the Jewish Messiah, who came to fulfill God’s promise of conquering Satan and his kingdom. Jesus is only the firstborn son of many brethren who reconcile this fallen world to God and His image (Romans 8:29).

This was God’s plan all along through His people (Exodus 4:22). Jesus charged His followers with being the salt and light to help with the reconciliation process (Matthew 5:12-16). Instead, God’s people rejected their humble Savior because they wanted an earthly king to help them conquer and rule over this fallen kingdom (Psalm 118:22, Isaiah 28:16; 53:3, 1 Peter 2:4-7).

Jesus displayed His Godhood over the weather and creation (Matthew 8:23-27, Mark 4:35, Luke 8:22-25).

Texas Floods

In other big and tragic news, nature has once again proved it is out of control and fulfilled Bible prophecy in Texas (Luke 2:11; 21:25-28, 2 Timothy 3:1-17). And indeed, there has been some sad news about young girls being swept away at a Christian camp.

In a disgusting show of ignorance and lack of compassion, many MAGA supporters and conspiracy theorists have tried to politicize the natural disasters and blame them on weather manipulation by Democrats. In Georgia, MAGA mistress Marjorie Taylor Greene announced legislation to ban weather manipulation.

Although she claims to be a Christian, she denies God’s sovereignty over the weather and world events:

  • Weather
  • Natural disasters
  • Wars

Maga rejects the Bible’s warnings about the last days and the corrupt ways of this fallen world because their pride makes them believe only they have all the answers.  They have turned from God to a temporary idol who promises to make them great, just like Satan does.

Too many conservatives are obsessed with an earthly kingdom that God alone will destroy (Malachi 4:1, 2 Peter 3:7-10, Revelation 21:1). We will take none of our earthly things with us when we die, yet Maga is obsessed with temporary happiness and a temporary greatness (Ecclesiastes 5:15, 1 Timothy 6:7).

God’s people are not called to world domination, but to the reconciliation of the world. This fallen world is in desperate need of God’s kāp̄ar!
