Ken Ham sees that atheists are starting up godless churches and he just doesn’t get it.
So why would atheists do such a thing? If there’s no God, what’s the point? If when you die that’s the end of you and you won’t ever know you even existed, then why bother with starting a church? Why would atheists like these be so active in such a meaningless project?
Because lots of things in church are fun: hanging with people like you, music, singing, judging each other’s wardrobe, etc. And human beings like to have fun. Fun is one of the big things that makes life not meaningless.
Well, the Bible gives us the answer. Here are two reasons why these atheists are actively promoting an atheist church:
Yes, because “it’s fun” just makes zero sense.
1. “Because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them” (Romans 1:19). God’s Word makes it plain that the knowledge of God is written on our hearts—every human being knows there is a God and every human being is “without excuse” (Romans 1:20). So there are no true atheists—they know there is a God and that’s why they want a system that copies the Christian worship.
If these atheists like the atmosphere of church, and they know there is a god, why not go to one of the plentiful churches around the country that do the church services with god included? Why would they specifically start up a church that does all the churchy things but without the god part (and the silly arbitrary rules like no gay sexy times)?
Romans 1:18 ). God’s Word tells us that those who reject God “suppress the truth”—they actively suppress what they know to be true. Because they know there is a God, they have to work hard to try to actively suppress the truth. It’s like they hold their hands on their ears and yell: “No, I refuse to listen to what God is telling me.” And so they actively preach their atheism to try to block the truth they willing reject. So sad.2. They “suppress the truth in unrighteousness” (
Oh shit! The bible says the bible’s true??? Quick, shut down atheist church. Holy fuck, if only we’d known.
No Ken, what’s sad is when you can’t even accept that people disagree with you for their stated reasons. What’s sad is when a grown man can’t even accept that people might believe something different than he. If you can’t even believe that people have listened to what you have to say (and to what the scientific community has to say) and, after doing so, have simply determined that you are wrong, that’s absolutely pathetic. Not everybody who disagrees with you must be dishonest in order to do so.
I’d pity Ken Ham if he weren’t so despicable.
