Last night a bomb went off in the women’s bathroom of an Illinois Target store:
A small bomb exploded in the women’s bathroom at a Target store in Evanston on Wednesday, and officials are investigating whether it’s connected to the company’s policy allowing transgender people to use the bathroom of their choice.
Commander Joe Dugan says no one was inside the bathroom when the small explosion happened a little after 4 o’clock. It caused minor damage and no one was injured. Early indications are that a plastic bottle was used but no projectiles like nails or tacks were inside it. Investigators are gathering evidence including examining store security camera video.
If all we knew about this person was that they planted a bomb in public, that alone would be sufficient to conclude that this is one of the most heinous and despicable people on planet earth.
Of course, this isn’t all we know. Sure, we can infer some things: they probably have an issue with trans people that has been stoked to a pious fervor, which means I’d be willing to bet literally every penny in my bank account they are a committed Christian. But, to be fair, we can’t honestly say we know this person’s religion. But there’s lots we do know. This person believes that doing physical harm to human beings is a lesser crime than peeing in the “wrong” bathroom. How fucked in the head do you have to be to think “whoa, that biological male isn’t using a urinal” and to think you’re going to set the moral scales back to even by attempting to kill or maim them?
This person, who thinks brutality is a greater crime than shitting in the wrong place, also presumes to have a greater moral sense than most other people. Why else ignore all those namby pamby laws about not committing violence against other people? This person thinks they know better, and is probably confused how the rest of us don’t see morality their way.
And I have to wonder how many other people, virtually all of them thinking their love of Jesus has made them kinder, compassionate people, silently approve of this. That’s the real depressing thing.
I’m glad nobody was hurt. If there were a just god in the universe he would’ve seen to it that this bomb exploded in this malicious dipshit’s hands while he/she was crafting it, so they could get a sense of the pain they were about to try to inflict on others. Lacking empathy, that would be the next best way to make them understand.
