The end is near! December 27, 2014

…of this year, that is.

NPR aired a segment tonight that I taped with Arun Rath for All Things Considered. If you haven’t heard it, it’s only 4 1/2 minutes long (click the image below to listen). I said more about my provisional conclusions in this interview than I ever have before.

When NPR tweeted the link to the segment a very interesting conversation ensued, dominated by tweets of encouragement and support, some inviting me to try other things, like Jehovah’s Witnesses (no thanks) and a several accusing NPR of biased reporting (“Why not cover people who become Christians?” “Why no stories about ISIS attacking Christians in Iraq?”) and a few with the tired accusation that of course I’m just an attention hound with a big, fat book deal. For the record, no book deal.

Hemant Mehta wrote a blog post about this as well. I’m grateful for his support, though we’ve not yet had the chance to meet. Thank you to each and every one of you who have given me your support in whatever way. It’s been a hell of a ride.

Naturally I have a lot more to say about this than what fits in this short radio story, and I’m working hard on a series of post between now and January 1. I appreciate the comments and support that I’ve received from all quarters and look forward to this ongoing conversation.
