Unless you’re living under a rock, you know about the crisis that has erupted in the Crimea region of Ukraine. Yesterday, I suggested  you pray for the people caught up in this man-made storm. Prayer is a work of spiritual mercy, and today I offer you a more tangible way to assist: bring gifts of corporal mercy to the war torn region. How? (more…) Read more

Joe Six-Pack, here. I know how it’s all the rage to root for the artificial birth control team these days, what with the HHS Mandate promising folks “freedom” from having babies at no cost. You know, treating pregnancy like it is some kind of disease. You’ve probably seen the story published by The Washington Post about the gay man who was allegedly denied a Sacrament by a priest because he was gay. When I read the story, something didn’t smell right to me. The first thing that popped into my head though was a question. Is this news? Or is it propaganda disguised as news? I think it is the latter. GetReligion has a fine stable of writers who, unlike many journalists, actually do “get”... Read more

I pray not only for them, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, so that they may all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us, that the world may believe that you sent me. —Jesus, the Christ (John 17:20-21) This grainy video of Papa Francesco addressing a conference of Penetecostals here in the U.S. is making the rounds. Take a look. (more…) Read more

Consider this post a public service announcement. Thieves can gain easy access to your home through your electric garage door. There’s not much chance of them guessing your access code anymore, but there is a key vulnerability in the emergency (read “power failure”) release. (more…) Read more
