About the Cast

McGregor is a devoted and influential philanthropist, and serves as a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing long-term humanitarian and developmental assistance to children and mothers in developing countries. Additionally, he was the face of the global British luxury lifestyle brand Belstaff.

McGregor was born in Perth, Scotland and currently resides in Los Angeles.

TYE SHERIDAN (The Boy) will next be seen in the new lead role of 'Cyclops' in X‑Men: Apocalypse directed by Bryan Singer for Fox. He joins a cast that includes Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, and James MacAvoy. He recently wrapped filming Alexandre Moors' The Yellow Birds, where he stars opposite Jennifer Aniston.

Tye was first discovered in Terrence Malick's film The Tree of Life, opposite Brad Pitt and Jessica Chastain. The Tree of Life won the 2011 Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival and was released to much critical acclaim.

Tye gave a breakout performance opposite Matthew McConaughey and Reese Witherspoon in Jeff Nichols' film Mud, which received rave reviews and was named one of the National Board of Review's Top 10 Independent Films of the year. Tye also starred opposite Nicolas Cage in David Gordon Green's Joe, for which he won the Marcello Mastroianni Award at the Venice Film Festival for Best New Young Actor.

In addition to Last Days in the Desert, Tye's other film credits include Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, as well as Kyle Patrick Alvarez's The Stanford Prison Experiment, opposite Billy Crudup and Ezra Miller. Tye was featured in indieWIRE's Top 25 Filmmaker and Actors of 2011 and was listed as one of Variety's Top Ten Actors to Watch for their 2014 issue.

CIARÁN HINDS (The Father) began his career at The Glasgow Citizens Theatre and was a member of the company for many years. In Ireland he has worked at the Lyric Theatre Belfast, the Druid Theatre in Galway and at the Project.

Hinds is set to star in The Crucible on Broadway this year. Recently, Hinds starred in London as Claudius opposite Benedict Cumberbatch as the Prince of Denmark in the Barbican's sold-out and acclaimed run of Hamlet, and appeared at the Abbey Theatre in Dublin in Mark O'Rowe's new play, Our View and Evil Days. Previous to this he appeared at the Donmar and in New York in Conor McPherson's The Night Alive; on Broadway as Big Daddy in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof; and at the Abbey Theatre in Dublin, in a co-production with the Royal National Theatre of Juno and the Paycock by Sean O'Casey, directed by Howard Davies.

For the Gate Theatre he appeared in Conor McPherson's The Birds, The Field Day Company's version of Antigone, The School for Wives and Brian Friel's The Yalta Game.

He toured internationally with Peter Brook's Company in The Mahabharata and has played leading roles at the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Royal Court, the Donmar Warehouse and the National Theatre, where he last appeared in Burnt by the Sun and played Larry in Patrick Marber's Closer, which transferred to Broadway. He also performed on Broadway in Conor McPherson's The Sea Farer.

On television he most recently appeared on "Shetland" after his turns as Mance Rayder in "Game of Thrones" and as Bud Hammond in "Political Animals." Previous to this he appeared as DCI Langton in Linda La Plante's "Above Suspicion" and as Julius Caesar in the BBC/HBO co-production of "Rome." This follows extensive television credits that include leading roles in "The Mayor of Casterbridge," "Jane Eyre," "Seaforth," "Ivanhoe," "Sherlock Holmes," "Prime Suspect 3" and the award-winning made-for-television film of Jane Austen's Persuasion, in which he played Captain Wentworth.
