#13— Modern tarot decks are composed of 78 cards. Fifty-two of the cards, called minor arcana, are very similar to modern playing cards, i.e. four suits with ten pip cards, but with four royalty cards instead of three. The 22 "trump" cards that make up the rest are called major arcana.
