God is always talking to us. In every moment of every day, He is nearer to us than we can imagine. Rather than ask if God really talks to us, we should be asking ourselves if we are really listening to Him.
In Hebrews 1:1-2, we read that God has spoken to us through His Son, Jesus Christ. Through Jesus Christ, all of Creation is permeated with the presence of God. Further, the Holy Spirit is constantly prompting us to bring ourselves closer to God. In Galatians 4:6 we read, "And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, ‘Abba, Father!'"
God certainly speaks to us at all times, but do we listen? Many things get in the way of our listening to God. Temptations abound. Often temptations are strongest for those who most desire to do the will of God because it is these who are the greatest threat to Satan's plan as he seeks the ruin of souls in the world. Christ Himself was tempted by Satan, but all who share in the Body of Christ share also in His power to overcome the temptations of the wicked one.
Today, as we share in the Cross of Jesus Christ, and therein reap the fruits of redemption He has merited for us, let us give ear to the Holy Spirit crying "Abba, Father" in our hearts and find true peace in His embrace.
