I'm a Meditation Addict: Introduction to Meditation for Life

Here's a simple, juicy breath practice. You can do it with eyes open or eyes closed. You can even do it while walking down the street, or washing dishes—though I don't recommend it while driving! Here's how it goes:

Sit quietly, with your back upright but not rigid.

Ground your hips and thighs, feeling their heaviness against the seat.

With a soft, natural breath, have the sense that the air flowing into your body is made of particles of love. This is not emotional love. It's the fundamental love-energy at the heart of reality, the essential life force that breathes us.

If you are visual, you might also want to ‘see' the subtle particles as white, silver, or blue light.

Be present to the felt sense of the air caressing your inner body. Let your focus on the breath be soft, gentle.

Let the breath flow softly.

If thoughts arise, note them as ‘Thought' and come back to the soft attention to the breath.
