Obama's Lonely Road to Peace

For all the bad that's come out of this past week's display, perhaps Obama can be credited for the courage to utter one little phrase with the power to ignite such a ridiculous conflict. Before the U.S. can expect to lead any sort of peace agreement, it will need to have many more such political fights, and at least an attempt at understanding—and declaring—what is required of both sides. Right along with Netanyahu's party, AIPAC and much of the American right oppose any kind of "even-handedness." Obama's own party rebukes him in front of lobbying groups and applauds when he is rebuked by a foreign leader. It appears that Obama, if he wants to be a truth-teller, will walk a lonely road.
